My advice is probably too late. Aggressive AI, to me, always means one thing: steal workers! A lot. You'll need them for the jungle.
The AI will quickly talk and cease fire if you threaten a city with a unit in their BFC.

Lots of grass means State Property workshops play well.
 
I have played a test game on EMP in the rain forest with a PRO leader. Is there any way to get rid of barbs w/o building TGW? I thought it could be possible, and tried to optimize my fog busting, but if there are gaps everywhere, you get overrun. Especially if the map script makes big maps and rather distant neighbours.
