Oh, I know there are quirks in the scoring system. The effect on evil_spock's score just seems particularly egregious.

My own personal bias against high scores is that I can rarely reach 25% - 30% of them!

You can view global ranking by either score (default), speed or combined (somewhat useless in my opinion). Set your goals (i.e. medals/score vs. awards/speed) based on your personal preference and just realize that if you go for fastest Cultural every single game that you'll be higher on the speed list and lower on the score list. To each his own...

oh...wow...I never knew that about the ranking derp! Actually, I would think "combined" would be the best thing to look at, but I guess that is a matter if you play for variety.
