News: GOTM 13 Saves available!

To install HOF mod ver 1.61.009, do I have to first manually remove 1.61.008 or can I directly install the latest one from the exe file?

As it's a different mod it can live alongside the old one. The saves will decide which they need and load it. You can choose to leave the old one there if you want to be able to open older saves, or simply delete it.

I know it sounds noobish  , but how can I delete the old mod? I don't want to inadvertently mess things up with other mods.

Damn, second to finish this game! I'm losing my touch :P

I wouldn't but if you wish to then delete the folder - its' in the Mods folder.

Thanks! I don't think that I will delete it any time soon, but still it is good to know as I have many mods that I don't use anymore.

I had a nasty system crash while playing the game (PC version). When I try to load my most recent autosave it gives me the message "The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed."

The next most recent autosave loads properly. Cna I use that one? Any idea why there's a problem with the other one?

It sounds as if the latest autosave is corrupted. Maybe the crash occurred while that save was being created. You will, of course have to continue from the previous autosave.

I hope you have autosave set for every turn - if not I recommend you do so. It's a setting in CivlizationIV.ini, and its default value is 4 turns. Set it to 1. Since this is a Large map, it will stretch your system more than previous GOTMs, so I guess crashes are more likely.
