News: GOTM 36 Pre-game Discussion

Settle in place enables 3.5 scientists at pop8 once calendar is in. Or 15 base hammers. Seams reasonable good to me. Settle 1E enables another 0.5 scientist, but reduces the max hammers. Settling on the banana enables 15 base hammers at pop6, but no scientists.

The capital is the main source of production and beakers for a long time, and the stronger the capital is early on, the faster the expansion goes, and the faster other cities can offload it.

I wonder how far into the game specialists can take you. Perhaps there is stone somewhere (pyramids)?

I've always wondered what those circles signify anyhow. Does it indicate that somewhere in the BFC of a city founded on that site there will be X number of resources, thus allowing us to know the approx location of a resource type that isn't visible yet with our technology? Or is it the AI's best judgement of what would be the best city site based only on what is actually visible?

I always thought it kind of weird to head for a blue circle, only to find when I get there that the new blue circles are right at the spot I left.

Can anyone explain the significance and/or game mechanics that decide where a blue circle is or isn't?

I remember reading that in Vanilla blue circles mean more than in BtS, indicating some sort of advantage in the fog...

Anyway, do I have the time for this game? :hmm: Enough on my hands already. ;)

Civfanatics partyvan :)

Horrible start, with the worst combination of starting techs.

No food, no forests, no fishing, no agri, no mining, probably not even enough commerce for buddhism. And that's on a crowded terra map. Stonehenge might be an option.

I tend to beeline to lighthouses for 3x 3f2c after mining; but that would delay much needed BW and AH

After some unfinished tries on GOTMs 34 and 35, going to finally play this one until the end.

I don't know much information about the game, and I want to know if I can save the game in another save at 500 AC(that first spoiler) to post in that topic so I can get some feedback.

I play this game since civ 1 in 1994 but never got serious about it. Finally going. :)

Gonna play this one just trying to survive and expand well, if it seems that I'm doing well, gonna try to win somehow, maybe space race or cultural. But I really need to finish at least one game to get the experience.

Welcome :wavey:

Most players play the games in several sessions. You can save the game at any point. If you want to quit the game for a break or a discussion/spoiler, save immediately before you quit. When you start playing again, simply make sure you load the last save you created.
