Of the 185 who played a mulligan in Mexico, only 59 submitted a score (3 Adventurer, 50 Contender, and 6 Challenger). 52 of those 59 were merciless and/or cunning in victory, thereby preventing much Aztec blood from spilling in the name of a false and foreign god and preserving the glory of Central America. Tlālōquê and the Cactus are pleased.

Special Game-Of-The-Month congratulations are due Merciless Mitchum on achieving his first gold medal.

Once we got past Dynamic Spirit's radical anthropological hypothesis that there were black Africans (melanistic jaguar swordsmen) in Central America ahead of the Spanish, there was great discussion throughout. Vanilla still rocks.

[BTW, in a major modification of milieu, #66 will be set in the future, but apparently Jesusin has been there and pigged out already.]

I achieved my goal of winning the cow. Don't have to do that long slog again.

Congratulations to the other award winners.

Although a conquest victory, I also achieved the requirements for domination and diplomatic victories on the same turn after voting myself the winner and taking H.C.'s last two cities. First time I've been able to meet three victory requirements on the same turn. The game picked conquest.

Merciless Mitchum on achieving his first gold medal.
Indeed, nice work in the Score department!

Good job, Jovan and babybluepants, in cutting the AIs down-to-size pre-1000 AD!

Vanilla still rocks.
Indeed, it does, and no one even complained about Vanilla's arguably weaker Jaguars (+25% Jungle defense instead of Woodsman I). I don't even recall defending in any Jungles.

Nooooo! Not another map where this gourmand has come and has his fill!

It's nice to see some non-Military Victories in the results, too, considering that the Top 18 Scores came from Military Victories.

Special Game-Of-The-Month congratulations are due Merciless Mitchum on achieving his first gold medal.

Thanks. I never have been one to go for high scores... probably because I've never gotten one before... :p Although, winning gold is much easier when CP isn't in the mix!

With that said, I'll trade my shiny gold medal for a fastest Domination, an elusive award since many of the top players always go for it.

EDIT: Close call on fastest Domination this time. So close, bbp!!

EDIT 2: Nice work, Dhoomstriker, on getting silver with the Challenger save.:goodjob:

Yeah, my game's Hall of Fame records aka game Replays table has a nice-looking Score at just over 149700, which just goes to show how unfair it would have been if the results table did not scale the Scores down for games played on a higher difficulty level. The in-game Score algorithm gives an apparently big weighting factor for increased difficulty levels.

Now you're making me feel bad. Do you want to swap medals? ;)

This does bring up a good point. Should people who play the harder difficulty level get the corresponding higher score? It may encourage more people to take the challenger saves...

Congrats Mitchum, Dhoom & Jovan. Thanks to CP for providing an interesting setup.

This really was a map for 'hit-em-where-they-aint'.

Me - the formally archtype-builder, getting fastest conquest (thanks for going domination bbp & Jovan)

1960 fastest culture win, Jesusin would be horrified.

Nahh, silver is great for stopping werewolves, vamps, and many of the other beasties of the Millenium Revelation.

Besides, you earned your victory fair-and-square. I was not trying to take away from it, but was only trying to illustrate that I believe it to be a good thing that Challenger Scores are scaled back to the same difficulty level as the Contender saves... it could otherwise be too easy to blow away the Score results with a mediocre game and thus would make playing Challenger considerably easier, essentially defeating the self-named challenging part of those saves.

Challenger is supposed to be about the bragging rights, the personal satisfaction, and, most importantly, allowing other players to get the Awards more of the time. ;) When you finally do manage to squeeze out an Award or a Medal with a Challenger save, it makes up for the last several missed attempts and ends up being all that much sweeter.

I see no reason to give a bonus to Challenger saves and in fact it could be argued that when the Challenger "penalty" is an increased difficulty level, it can make tech-based victories, such as Space and Diplo, that much easier.

Hey, a win is a win. Every Fastest Award is well-deserved: no matter what the date, no one else was faster (although, as babybluepants found out, sometimes one can be equally as fast and still get nudged out of the Award  ;)).

Congrats to the winners!

My best score/rank to date, and I can think of ways I could've done even better so it was an encouraging game for me. Also I'm now 29th in the global rankings. I'm so pro :p

Here's where everyone settled. (Sorry, map posted late due to a screw-up on my part which meant CP didn't get the info to post this on time).

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.
