GOTM 114 Pre-Game Discussion!

Please Note: This is the Civ3 PTW Game of the Month. It MUST be played using version 1.27f of Civ3 PTW, the last version. If you installed Civ3 Complete, the default game executable is Civ3 Conquests, but you do have access to the Civ3 PTW executable. You may have to navigate into the Civ3PTW directory to start it.

E, N, E looks like Flood Plains, but without a BG or Wheat on those Flood Plains we don't have a four-turner. Still, settling E (or further NE from there) is irresistibly tempting.

Research: Pottery -- Alphabet -- Writing -- Map Making.

I'm looking forward to this one. I unfortunately couldn't finish last month's in time, though I will finish it. Having a bit of trouble with a couple of pesky neighbors on that map, and I'm going to have to punish them both severely.

This one will be interesting, due to the Archipelago. That will present a challenge for me, I think.

My favorite Civ! Thank you civ_steve!

I like the idea of settling to the east. Once there is a boarder expansion you can pick up the forest tile when the population increases for 2 free shields. With two population expansions in 4 turns, you only need to pick up 26 shields for a 4 turn settler. If that is FP then there is +6fpt when fully worked. And with the Ottomans being industrial, that will be easier to get running. The wheat tiles with irrigation will be worth 1spt each (-8s in 4t = 18 shields left to pick up). We have potentially 3 citizens left, 2 for 4t, 1 for 2t. Need to irrigate 2 plain tiles to keep food balancd and mine the other for 5fpt. 1 citizen on mined plain for 4t = -8s = 10s remaining). 1 citizen on irrigated plain for 4t = -4s = 6s remaining. 1 citizenon irrigated plain for 2t = -2s = 4s remaining.

Unless I missed something, that kills the idea of a 4t SF. Wheat on FP will allow for an additional mined plain for the extra 4s. I don't see any way for a BG to appear. Maybe game in one of the forest tiles that are picked up by moving to the east? Seems unlikely.

If settled in place I was wondering if there could be anything in the tile 2W, but it looks like hills.

**Edit** - Duh!!! 4s free from the city tile. That's a 4t factory with a move to the east if that is a FP.

Getting a late start on this one...but it looks like just my style...Now if I can just avoid those pesky Moderator Action: SNIP; really now, a discussion of other civs in the game in the pre-game thread! ...shooting for the stars this time.
