News: TSG 133 Announcement

Do barbarian kills earn you Great Admiral points?

I just finished a Maya game where I took an admiral for my 3rd free Great Person; I think it was bak'tun 7. It was not hard to always end his turn on a deep ocean tile. I had the entire ocean explored (including all the empty part in the middle in case Krakatoa was out there) before I researched astronomy. I'd never tried that before, but it works pretty well. OTOH, all the other civs found out sooner that I was a warmonger.

If the game pace was slower I'd probably settle on the copper next to the mountain. On quick, I think I will settle in place because it looks almost as good, and an expo can go by the mountain (maybe on the oranges)

I've never gotten that Sacred Sites cheese thing to work. It almost works for me, but then somebody like Poland always runs away with culture and I can never overtake them. Dromons and raging barbs and an admiral might be the way to make it work, moreso than the Byzantine extra belief.

Honor or Liberty...?

Looks like i left hawaii korea spain and Babylon on from the previous game on. Sorry about that
FWIW, I would have expected complaints about Continents Plus, since that requires the Explorers Map Pack.

I don’t quite follow, how do people end up having to pay extra for Hawaii / Korea / Spain / Babylon when people have BNW? BNW was well after those civs were released, and I though thought they were all included in BNW?

OTOH, not everyone picked up the Explorers Map Pack for free. And I as far as know, the Scrambled Nations Map Pack has always been extra. It all seems unnecessarily complicated!

The sooner you meet everyone when trying for a CV, the better. GA can explore across ocean tiles before astronomy.

Just to be clear, it is not a prerequisite to have met all civs for a CV?

If not, is the investment in dromons worth the 25% modifier for open borders? If going for SS the trade route modifier is going to come late.
