Well, then we have now 2 cavalry civilizations. Actually I didn't think they would include the mongols after scythia. However, since Korea is also included,
maybe there is a scenario planned which needs them.

The Mongols were always likely, and if they get a horse archer it will almost certainly be a knight replacement (or at least a unique unit of the medieval era) to fit their historical period. Scythia’s Saka archers come much earlier.

Civ V had the Huns and the Mongols, and even Arabia had camel archers which behaved in a very similar way. They’re not averse to having multiple cavalry archer units.

Looks like it missed Georgia. :shifty:

They sort of didn't like non-flat terrain and always avoided that when possible.

I actually think it will be like Alexander, where we will get two UUs. Which would be kinda neat

Actually a historically accurate Mongol feature would be the ability to use UUs of conquered Civs.

Monglols is a must be included civ. So excited to have them there. Liked the cat.

I'm a bit disappointed that it isn't a surprise, but okay more fun for the next weeks. If they continue like this however, we will get Ottomans next time.

Me too. I kinda hoped that one of the dark horse candidates would be this week. That's OK, though, as I always love the Mongols. They make my games interesting, even as AI. Glad they are back.

I think it’s possible we might be experiencing confirmation bias with the Mongols. The spear doesn’t scream Mongols to me, but it’s doesn’t rule them out either. It could be a lance for a knight replacement.

One possible clue comes from the expansion’s trailer, where we see archers in similar garb as the teaser defending against the Mongols.

Yes, very glad with Mongols, also happy with leader choice. Feels like Genghis Khan is too iconic to leave him out.

So far they've only revealed civs hinted at in the trailer. That really only leaves a few possibilities left, then it's ones we truly don't know.

I didn’t see it as a spear, I saw it as an arrow

On reddit, someone also mentioned the possibility of a different Persian leader. I don't know what is possible too. Seljuks maybe. A different horde like Uyghur

Seljuk soldiers.

But it seems unlikely they would take such a civ.

It's not so unusual to have 2+ cavalry civs, though. Civ V had the Huns, along with, wait for it, the Mongols. If all we're looking at is units, then there have been a lot of cavalry replacements. The question is actually more how they'll have the Keshik differentiate itself from the Mamluk. Scythia is ancient/classical.

I think you’re probably right. It’s the same graphic that’s shown in the next hint, and the shaft is too short to be a spear. I think it just seemed like an excessively long to be an arrowhead.

The biggest hint for me is the "heat of the forge" line and the anvil, when (as Eagle pointed out) Genghis Khan's birth name literally does mean blacksmith.

Heavy Cavalry with also a ranged attack maybe. Similar to the immortals being able to attack melee as well now.

The Mongols are coming! I am looking forward to something different in them this time around. Come on Firaxis¡ Help us with the hype. Something fun and different. A twist of sorts.
