So,

My sister wants to get one of these systems for her kids. They are in 2nd and 1st grade. They are asking her for Nintendo Game Cube. Why they aren't asking for Wii, I don't know. But I think the price is right for my sister since they are so young and don't need to have the top system out there. I have playstation 2, and know nothing about the Nintendo Game cube.

1. Will they keep making games for these systems for a couple years or three? (this was a concern of hers)
2. Which is the better system to buy for the kids? I'm guessing Nintendo is geared more towards kids, but I could be wrong.

I don't think Game Cube is geared any more towards kids than any other system's but it might be true it has more games suitable for kids.

I think wrt to kids in that age group you would want a Gamecube. The ps2 has some kid games but most of the library for ps2 is geared for older kids and twentysomethings.

Well the Gamecube is more kid suited, but it already severely lacks 3rd party support. So not a lot of games are going to be coming out for it I reckon. Anyone feel free to correct me as I'm talking out of my arse.

There wont be many more GameCube games made, but if it is a choice of PS2 and the Cube, get the Cube since it is much cheaper and has more games for that age group.

I'm sure you could get a Gamecube dirt cheap somewhere, but it's really not a good purchase since Nintendo is just about finished making games for it. If you could find a Wii, it would be a MUCH better choice, as the system also plays all Gamecube games.

Or you could just get a PS2, which has several thousand games available last time I checked. :)

Thanks for the help. She doesn't want to get the Wii for them since it is a lot of money & the kids are a little too young to appreciate it. She wants to go with the cheaper system. I suppose you'd be able to find games at the used game stores, especially since wii came out and some people will be selling their games.
