NitroJay's Late Start Saved Games

After 400AD?!

I thought this was the Roman empire at the height of it's power?

Sorry, I just assumed that implied that shortly after the height they started declining. Besides, a well balanced military economy and you can keep most of it until 400 AD. I did. Well, I lost Germania Superior once or twice but they always elected to return to me after a while :p

Sorry about the Celts, that'll be changed.

The building queue is precisely so that the player can choose what to build.

I thought Rome didn't adopt Christianity until around 300?

There's a misunderstanding here... Rome (the city) and most of the big cities (especially in the East, but also in Gaul and the British Isles) HAD Christians and temples in them since at least 70AD or so. But that does not mean they weren't persecuted, and it certainly doesn't mean that the state religion wasn't more powerful though declining. As for the empire, not till the late 300's did it adopt X-ty.

(Edit:) How you wanna portray that, brother, is up to you. It would be easier if the state religion could be represented by something more than 'no religion'. Then you could add X-ty and Judaism and other religions where appropriate. As it stands now, in terms of game mechanics, I guess 1-2 cities with X-ty will have to do, eh?

So extremely fast axemans are useless.

But it's really annoying.

Roman Empire didn't adopted it as a state religion. But it was present in Rome as a religion of slaves and very poor people. In any case- it's hard to prevent player from changing from paganism to SR.

No, 'cause in a test game I ran they didn't even try to take Rome before 900 AD, without the promotions

Personal opinion. I personally found it annoying having to go round all the cities by hand and changing it to a build queue that suited me.

OK, Christianity in only a couple of cities. Compromise?

Now on this Judaism is a bit wierd so below is a version where I have just strieghtened up the religions a little bit, islam in africa, no judaism and hopefully when you end your go mali, egypt, turkey, and persia should all become muslim...

Sorry man, i thank you too early. This save has the tech bug  ...

I think it's better than foot unit with naval promotion :/ Rome should be less stable (when it will lose some cities it should fall)

As I said- in Rome and maybe in one more city- no more.

This is sweet... I come home from my trip and this thread has exploded! I have to go to Cancun, Mexico tomorrow night and I have a buddy leaving for Iraq that I plan on spending some time with this weekend, but after all that, I look forward to getting active again here... As I said a million posts ago, I'll be putting up an Arabian Historical Start soon... I just need to find the time...

I can't wait to give the Rome scenario a shot when it's finished... I apologize for not being up on it, (I only skimmed through all the posts, since it's late, and I'm tires, and I haven't been home in a while), but are you planning on leaving the Rome game open ended? Or are you going to put in some goals or scenario objectives? i.e. Keep the empire together until XXXXAD or conquer or vassal all the European civs... That would be cool, but I'm not sure how to make it work... PLEASE let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Next week is looking a little better for me, time wise... :)

Edit: I added a few more lines to the first post in this thread to link to posts that include downloads... Now I have to sleep in my own bed for a change... If anyone has any halfway decent Arabia starts, please post them... I've had bad luck with them last week... They were so skewed from history that the editting for a historical start would have been a nightmare... I'm sure it's just a fluke, I've had plenty of normal games with them where everything seemed fine, just not recently... :)

I

I just used the naval promo for the effect. It being naval is entirely cosmetic, and it is the simplest way I have found of making the axemen quicker.

Rome should be less stable (when it will lose some cities it should fall)
That was the effect I had intended, but I don't know of any means to alter stability in the scenario. Help anyone? :p

@Nitro, I think that in order to make new objectives it would have to alter the actual mod, though I'm not certain. I think the only way to do it would be to alter the files relating to the UHV in the RFC folder.

Yeah... As much as love a new patch... I didn't think one would come as soon as it did... My kids are on spring break right now and I'm having both computer and car issues lately, so my schedule has become a little erratic...

I plan on remaking the few I've done (which shouldn't take more than a day or two using my old notes as a guide) as well as post some unaltered starts again... Probably end of this week/early next week I'll get on it...
