NO-1: Tree huggers of the world unite

I will have to take a skip. I'm having computer issues and don't have civ access at the moment. I guess it requires a re-install.
this makes Tatran up if i'm not mistaken.
i'm sorry, i'll try to get this resolved ASAP.

I've had it with this game.
Loosing way too many units.
I already had 1 reload because of a miss click.

And in general I won't sign up anymore for SGs with variants or too many rules.
Not my style of playing.
I'm also 100% convinced civ4 isn't suited for SGs. Too many options -> too many debates.
I'm a fast player who can finish huge maps at marathon speed within a day if I want to.

I'll finish this SG, but someone else should take the current save.

Ok, so did the game just die then? That's a shame. It did seem the other players were losing interest though.

Or are you saying I should play now, and you next? I think the game is winnable, waiting so long is frustrating though I agree.

In the interest of moving the game along I'll play now. Maybe if someone lurking is interested they'd like to join up?

i really don't want this game to die, i will re-install tonight i think an perhaps we can try and keep a higher pace, but i don't want to lose all discussion, because i think that is important in a SG, perhaps we should have been a player or two more in this game though

Ok I played 10 (and a half) turns. We have a very nice army now. No problems losing units except 1 cat on a go-to order that I didn't notice was within range of a Horse Archer.

Harlem is founded. Whoever plays next please whip the granary next turn.

The AP message to stop the war came up again, and I defied it too. We need to vote for a resolution that passes before we can spread Judaism. We also got a random event letting us stop the war without Ragnar giving us anything.

Every turn I considered going into anarchy to lose OR or Judaism, but it never seemed worth it. Charlie is still annoyed but his hands are empty. Nap hasn't done anything yet but move troops south to Jelling. Ramesses switched to Christianity. We have a solid power lead that is growing.

I unfortified our general and made a m3 chariot with 3 movement points. We got another general and now there's an instructor in Rotterdam, which is our most productive city, at least when I play :whipped:

Here's Nidaros before..

and after..

We lose only 2 cats. Whoever plays next should be able to take 2 more cities. I unfortified the spy and there's only 2 archers in the coastal wine city. We have a sword causing trouble at Maastricht, we can send a horse archer there in time, and/or whip an axe in Rott.

We get MC in 4 turns (and we have COL), I could've shaved it down to 3 if I moved up the slider sooner, but we have no pressing need for it. We are about to get GPs in both Hague and Amsterdam (which have markets). I am deliberately starving Hague rather than work coast or incense. If we get a merchant we can lightbulb CS (if we finish MC). Taoism was founded in Tatran's set I believe.

Thanks Quechua for doing a much better job.
I guess you're much more a warmonger than a builder.

I saw Wang Kon had Philosophy, maybe he's the founder of Taoism.
Feudalism is probably known too, so we're facing another problem.

Weird move by Ramesses to adopt Christianity. He has built the AP and it's Jewish.

I guess you're much more a warmonger than a builder.

I don't know about that. I built markets in Amsterdam and Hague. A granary, lighthouse, and library in Leiden. Barracks in Delft and Uppsala. Stables in Utrecht. Hindu Monastary in Middelburg. A library in Etruscan, with a courthouse soon to be whipped. ;)

nice turns Quechua. I have re-installed civ and everything seems to be working. so if no one minds than i feel like taking the save and perhaps taking those two cities in a couple of hours... :hammer:

Sounds good to me, I don't think we have much to discuss except please let the gp pop in Hague before Amsterdam.

My internet connection at home recovered. I am working tomorrow, so i will be "officially back" on sunday.
It was apparently indeed a monthly traffic limit (tho i was unaware of having one thus far...)

Not sure what happened with NoChildren, but if he hasn't played yet, I just looked over the save again and noticed that the Colossus is still left unbuilt. We can get it in 10 or 11 turns in Amsterdam if we work all our 2 hammer tiles.

Also Hague is 2 turns ahead of Amsterdam in gp points so we can safely switch one scientist to a coast tile (I'd prefer to leave the merchants to increase chance for CS lightbulb).

I think Ragnar is finished within the next 25 turns

sorry, i just had too much to do this weekend...
but here's the rather short report.

i thought about trying to pillage ragnars metals, but saw that he had two sources,..

i locate cheju where taoism was founded:

everyone else wants the war to end:

etruscan will experience some heavy cultural pressure:

this could be solved by the old :hammer:

a bunch of wonders completed:

unfortunately, not by us

i held off science after finishing MC while hoping for a GM, it turned out a GS. i honestly have no idea what to do with it, so i will leave it for the team to decide. all i know is we won't be bulbing philosophy, that's for sure.
napoleon built HG and WK built GL.

Haithabu falls at the cost of one catapult after a lengthy siege:

i checked his status only three turns earlier, but here he comes:

ans may i say that he doesn't look very happy.

i decided to en my set here, as we are definitely facing a bigger threat now!

Well it looks like we're going to lose Etruscan for now at least. Charlie's borders blockaded metal and happy resources there so it's pretty much garbage. Maybe whip an archer to get some last benefit from it and move the rest out of the city?

We can use Philo to trade for Machinery, but we have to act quickly. With xbows Charlie isn't much of a threat. We have another shot at a merchant in Amsterdam, in the meantime I think researching Engineering is better than CS, better war benefit and we can trade it.

I forgot a forge was required for Colossus, that explains why the AI isn't building it. I'd give back Leiden's food to Amsterdam to grow and whip the forge into the Colossus there, then work all our 2 hammer tiles.

Our army in the south we can split somewhat, one part combining with new forces to take Ragnar's two nearby coastal cities, they were lightly defended when I last looked. We vote yes when the AP resolution to end the war comes up next, if Ragnar still has that coastal horse city then, no big deal imo. We can maybe even bribe him to attack Charlie, not that he'd be much help at this point.

Oh and Refar please switch the specialists in Hague to coast tiles to grow it, capping off with incense. Also please whip granary into lighthouse in Haarlem.

The two-front war is blockading our trade routes, that's why our economy is crap again. So if the AP resolution wont come up and we've run out of steam taking Ragnar's cities, I'd end the war ourselves there.

Good luck ;)
