NO-1: Tree huggers of the world unite

I am not sure we can get Astro from Ramesses for peace - in my experience this is one of the Techs the Ai will hold onto, while having it's last city surrounded by tanks. But if you think we can, i am fine with waiting to capitualte/kill him.

A bit surprised Charlie still didn't declare. Isn't bad however

Edit: Crosspost.

I apologize guys, I delayed playing on my day off, and now I'm going to have to take a skip.

I agree let's finish Egypt off at this point.

Astro isn't so great now since Wang got the island first. It still opens up Physics but I don't think we can beat Wang to the scientist, and really we're at the end of the game now I believe. It also obsoletes the colossus, and it's nice to see bags of gold coming from the sea.

I don't think waiting for sushi is worth it. I'd prefer to go right back into a GA with next gp, or cash bomb with the merchant and go for a GA with the gp after that. Can we get the spy from communism? If not, Bio is nice after steel is complete.

On spys, we probably want to devote a few more EP on Nap for city revolts. For the (next) war, I think I would focus on Jelling and Nap first. Maybe get a cease-fire with Charlie when Nap is liberated, and redeclare on the HRE when we've moved our troops in position for the final push.

I can play saturday evening or sunday noon. Will do so, unless Tartan wants to have another turn.

If you have to take that long perhaps I could play tomorrow morning, the problem is I work long shifts and will be tired, and I spend a lot of time micromanaging so turns take forever for me. Maybe Tatran will grab up the save before then though.

It's late in the night here right now, and i work long shift tomorrow and saturday as well...

I don't have time today (Friday).
Let's stick to the original roster -> Quechua you're up.

Ok I played some turns.

I decided to switch to Communism for the spy and State Property, I move the slider up and we'd get it in 4 turns. I intend to use the merchant for a cash bomb, and use the next gp for a GA along with the spy (~2000 gold is more flexible than the espionage points)

I switch civics.

With the forest preserves we potentially have insane happiness and I'd like to draft. Caste ensures we can use an economic specialist with Merc, and lets us choose our next gp. A little odd I know, but I think we have freedom to play around a bit now.

On the topic of forest preserves I build them for more happiness in Delft and Nidaros, and started in some other places. I didn't think lumbermills were legal, it seems to go against the spirit of the game. I'd like to build workshops in some cities that just have immature cottages on the flatlands. We will want to switch to state property to get rid of the distance maintenance and get foreign trade back anyway.

I take Giza (the city that was bombarded) on the inherited turn with no losses. I give march to some C3 cuirassiers to speed up the conquest (pretty sweet combined with the super medic). I move the mounted troops to Byblos and take it without bombardment, losing a Cav at something like 75%. The seige headed straight to Cimmerian, and the march troops fresh from Byblos take it with no losses. Now Ramesses has one city left.

On the topic of military, I started the Heroic in Uppsala, and I let the general sit. I'm thinking of using this general to make a few highly promoted super cavalry (or super cannons) to help speed the final war.

Our merchant gets some lucrative trade from the hostile Franks.

Now for some bad news, Wang gets Communism one turn before us  What's more, it was far less than one research turn, as you can probably see from the research bar in the screenshot. I had tried switching some cities to build research to cut the overflow turn, but even switching Uppsala was just a drop in the bucket. Maybe I could've gotten it if threw away production in a big fraction of our cities. I'm not happy about this.

I really should've delayed the trade mission until after I'd ensured the spy. Now it will be 20ish turns for the next gp and our next GA. (we got a prophet as expected, I'm running merchants in both Etruscan and Amsterdam). My excuse is I was pressured into playing when I should be asleep :shifty:

I switch back to Steel without finishing Communism yet (I guess this was pointless). Also I sell Charlie Optics for 550 gold.

It turns out the endgame has begun...

We are adequately prepared I believe. I've been drafting every turn. I had put some trebs near the border of Jelling unfortunately so we lost those.

Some good news too though....

Egypt is gone.

I take the city with mostly maces, so the nearby mounted troops are free to move this turn.

I didn't think lumbermills were legal, it seems to go against the spirit of the game.
We've only 1 clear rule : forests must grow everywhere.
I agree we should use preserves to encourage forest growth, but only for
adjacent non forest tiles. Otherwise we´re free how to improve those tiles.

Cool ^

I will play in a few hours after work.

I played a bit. The turns take forever...

All but one of my screenshots did not take. Most of them not at all, a few have a partial picture - like only the map without interface/units... WTH ?! Never had it this bad before.
Anyway... here's the one i have... you will have to use your imagination for the rest of them... Sorry...

Finished researching Steel, set Steam Power (half done now, due to a event - Archeologist dug up some stone carvings from ancient desert tombs, that gave us ~2000 :science: towards steam power... Necrons hid it there i guess...)

I took of the Specialists in Amsterdam and am building Lumbermills there - i think it's necessary, if we want to have any chance of getting Statue of Liberty... (Eta 15 Turns now, but more Lumbermills are incomming...)
Etruscan is running merchants (and was just one turn behind Amsterdam on the GP front.)

Some of our improvements did got hit by spies. I rbuilt a few, but not all (some were near Charlemagnes roaded boarders, so i did not want to loose the workers there.)

Disassembled Charlies SoD at Etruscan. Even with superior arms it took 4 turns...
While he was bombarding, hit him with Cavalry (lost 2 to Landsknechts) untill his Siege was gone... Without collateral the rest of his stack suicided on our defences (Killed one more unit of ours).

See the lone screenshot above - it was right after killing his last Trebuchete (And right before his remaining troops suicided...)

Took Jelling and the city he founded between Jelling and Etruscan (forgot the name).
Also took a city in the North by attack of opportunity with a stack that was actually intended for pillaging.

Meanwhile reassembled and upgraded the Army we used vs Egypt. It is on the move towards charlies western cities now, to let him taste a 2 front war.

We have a few dittle-squats from Charlie constantly wandering in our lands. Nothing serious - right now its one Landsknecht and one Macemen iirc. - but due to heavy forestation, removing them might cost more than it is worth... I just kept an eye on them, and removed the ones that stepe out of the forest...

Also routet Napoleons "SoD" () at Amsterdam. After that he tried a Galley Driven Naval invasion  at that Pig-city N of Amsterdam... dropping of some catapults... Of course failed miserably (he did not bring real troops, just cats...)

Later Naps started sending lone or pairwide Musketeers which wandered our lands (and again, were a pain to remove out of our forests).
I put a stack in his land (fortified on a hill near our boarder) wich so far succesfully stoped further incursions, however the stack does need a Medic, or it will be forced to withdraw soon.

We have 3 Great Generals... One was there already, two more i popped while killing Charlies main stack...
Sorry about the :smoke: not using them... didn't really know what to do with these... One more Super medic might be good...

Charlemagne will Give us Luxemburg and 450 Gold for peace... But i dont really see why we would want too...

Glad to hear the war isn't giving us much trouble, and we got rid of those cities in the middle of our territory.

We are a fraction of a turn from Communism we should complete it before the coming GA at the end of Tatran's set. I should've just completed it myself sorry, it's easy to miss that in the report.

I would suggest using at least one general to give distributed experience to attacking troops, I think it would speed up the conquest. Maybe give it to the C3 march mounted troops? Can we trade for Military Science to get Blitz?

I was thinking of using the excess gold after the completion of steel to upgrade trebs to cannons and cuirassiers to cavalry. I don't think we really need to be researching much now, but that random event was nice. Sorry I forgot to suggest this earlier.

...Rereading it sounds like you did upgrade, I didn't look at the save as you can tell. ;)

I did not see any possible trades when i checked (We only had Chemistry on WK who "didn't like us enought"). I have however not looked at the end of my set, so meybe there is something new...

I used the gold on upgrading Cannons anyway ;)
Also upgraded a few Cavalrys and some CR3 maces to rifles (in the western stack)

I did look at the save now, a couple more comments.

Charlie is researching Military Science for us due to complete in 7 turns. We should steal it and use generals to create blitz march killing machines I think.

Our army is in nice shape but I think we could use some more spies to take advantage of all our espionage. I'd like to see an offensive army on the Nap side to take him out quicker.

The battle around Etruscan has messed up the tiles a bit. Tatran can you reimprove the corn, and set the citizens to work all the food surplus and specialists? I'd like to get another golden age just for the hell of it.

Yes i was unablt to reimprove etruscan, as there was allways something going on... I think with the two enclave cities in our land removed, it sould become a bit safer...

Research is turned on again.
I'd like to have infantry asap.

One of our mines popped-up silver, more happiness in our cities.

Research : Steam Power is known -> Assembly Line

Justinian has enough on his hands.

William the Conquerer (GG) has been born.

Charles Augustin de Coulomb (GE) has been born in Memphis.

We know Assembly Line and SoL is ours too.

We've enough population, but we still need 14% land for a Domination victory.

I am up again, am i ?

Iirc we have 2 GP now. So another Golden Age ?

Otherwise... Taking the rest of Charlie will hopefully be enought land...

I believe Quechua is up, but if you guys(?) want to swap, that's ok.

We've indeed 2 great people, GE + GP.

Charlie's units are rusting away in his cities, because of the unhappiness.

No-no if quechua is up it's good. I feel the game comes back too fast anyway

Ok I got it will play within 24hrs. Will start a golden age and switch to State Property. I don't think the save will make it back to me again this game. ;)
