Playing Hot Seat Multiplayer with a friend, and we occassionally set the AI civs to player to help them not be completely incompetent. Once such instance is when choosing dedications, because I have tested and proven that the AI does NOT in fact choose any golden age dedication other then Exodus of the Evangelists, even Civs with no Religion after all Religions have been founded, when we checked on them, found they chose Exodus.
The AI in google search will tell you they choose dedications strategically, this simply is not true. VERY little effort has gone into the Civ 6 AI, the absolute bare minimum. We saw Gauls capture a builder from their neighbor Alexander and WONT move the builder back to their cities, but just leave it there for several turns until he recaptures it. We saw Vietnam park warriors next to our city in the era game, thus giving notice about 20 turns in advance they were going to "surprise war"
THE BUG:
When selecting AI Civs and turning them to player on the turn that a golden age begins, the "Choose Dedication" option simply doesn't appear. It says they are in a golden age, but on the ages page, the type is not listed, and they receive no benefits. It has been my experience in our last multiplayer hot seat that it works correctly when taking control them one turn before the turn where the golden age officially begins.
ANOTHER BUG:
It seems there is some kind of residual AI control going on when changing an AI civ in multiplayer to player. On the first turn it becomes player, you can change what cities are producing, and on the next turn, those cities will not be producing anything. It's as though the AI is trying to fight back because you changed what they wanted to produce to something else.
REPRODUCING THE BUGS
I am not using any mods that would effect these changes. Please start a hot seat multiplayer game, perhaps on quick speed, and try for yourself, selecting all the AI Civs and turning them into players when Classical age roles around. (hopefully some of them have earned golden ages) It's ridiculous that after all these years no info is to be found online and I am the one who has to bring this to your attention.
