No disc playing.

Hello everyone,

I have noticed that to play the basic version of Civ, you need no disc. You just wait until your game loads, and then you can take the disc out. Just a cool fact. But...

My new super-small laptop doesn't have a disc drive. I was wondering whether or not it is possible to download the game files directly onto your computer, or somehow put the game on a flash drive. Just wondering.

Buy the game from one of the digital distributors (Direct2Drive, Steam, etc.) or wait until next week and get the complete edition which does away with the disk check

Just one more thing... I have bought the legal disc of CivIV. Surely there is some way to avoid the disc without paying yet again? We're not Creosote's relatives, y'know...

There is no legal way to do so - and certainly none that would be in line with forum rules to discuss.

Hmm, pity. Just for the record, I was not suggesting nor attempting to start anything illegal, particularly on a public forum.

Ah well. Guess I'll take the expansion.
