No menu's

Hello,


Since I reinstalled my computer I cannot play Civilization anymore. I don’t get any errors, but when I start up civilization, I only get a blue screen (= intro)and then, when I click a few times, the map shows up on the background, but NO menu options. It’s just like the menu options are there, but I just can’t see it. Because when I click in the left corner, civilization will shut down.

I’ve tried searching the forums for a similar situation, but the only one I found were users with an ATI graphic card having similar problems, while I have a Geforce 5600. I followed the steps anyway, but it didn’t solve the problem.

I made sure I installed the latest version of DirectX 9.0c (checked it with dxdiag).

I also read that it might have something to do with the copy protection but I have an original version, bought in the store..

My pc has the following configuration:

AMD Athlon 64 3000 XP
ASUS K8V motherboard
1024 MB RAM
200 MB SATA Drive (more than 100 GB free space)
NEC DVD –RW 16 X
Creative Soundblaster Live 24-bit
Geforce FX 5600
Windows XP 32-bit (dutch version)

I’ve done all the updates (windows, drivers) that I could find

I also use Nero Burning 7.0

I have the DVD version of Civilization 4

I have found something If you have a via chipset: try to uninstall the agp inf driver. It works fine with me.

I actually found the solution, for me at least. I installed the 1.09 patch that they released and it worked, with intro movies and menus and everything!

Ive been playing civ4 for a while now, had no problems, but since Ive installed patch 1.52 (or whatever it is) Im now experiencng the same problem, no text in my menus or drop down boxes. Please help!!

I can't believe no one is helping or talking about this issue. It took me forever and a day to get my system to run without video problems under 1.09. Countless driver downloads and reboots.

Now along comes 1.52 and I no longer have interface menus, turn/clock display, research bar, etc. How in the *(&^ can firaxis fix one thing and introduce another problem?!!?!?!?!

I am so disgusted with computer games right now. It's not like I have an obscure system, it's a freaking dell for crying out loud. WTH is wrong with Firaxis. Fix this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Screaming at them over the internet IS NOT, I repeat IS NOT going to automatically make it work. It's not going to make the damn Civilization fairy come out of Sid's ass and make it all better.

Try decreasing graphic quality in the first window. Try posting DXDIAG logs. Try fiddling with your BIOS settings. Up your virtual memory, and up you AGP Aperature in the BIOS.

When all else fails, uninstall and try again. If that fails, then return your copy.

Installing the 1.52 patch resets all of your graphic settings. I have yet to get my computer to work on High graphic setting. Try lowering it to LOW (oh, ya you can't see the menus, but they still work if you get lucky clicking). See if that helps....

If that doesn't work completely remove the game and empty your temp directory (to find temp easily go to Start, Run, and type in %temp% and hit enter). Then reinstall.

well.......i see im not the only 1
i have the same prob.
tryed everything
was about ready to put the game on a shelf.
i have a ge force 5950
if i fish around at the world screen i can get into the game.
cant tell what ur doing though.
our situation realy stinks. posted befor about this,up till now i only found
1 other that had this prob.
