Arent user made scenarios always better than the originals anways?...I mean...Look at the WW2 scenarios of Civ2...I couldnt even play the original ww2 one...but then there were lots of good original ww2 mod scenarios shortly after...

:rotfl: !
I saw him when he came and spoke at Johns Hopkins University a few weeks ago, and he was really good at weaseling out of questions the students asked him.

Back on Topic: I forsee a release in a few months that includes multiplayer, extra civs, and some scenarios. I guess we'd better start saving money now because I bet they'll try to gouge us for all we're worth!

If the lack of scenarios is true, this is bad

There is always a need for scenarios in games like Civ 3 because they help newbies get used to the game etc. A good scenario can hugely speed up a user's ability to learn the game.

You insane potatos!!!

Check CIV3.com.

The game ship with 11 scenarios,
Limited Edition with 12!

Don't sweat it!

Phew! In-built scenarios rock! Whoever said the thing about no scenarios in Apolyton should be shot!

AAAAAAAH!!! NOO, have mercy, have mercy! Please don't kill me, I'm only the messager. I'll do anything...  :(
;)

Seriously though, I can confirm that the standard edition of Civ3 does indeed NOT ship with ANY scenarios. Over half a dozen American Apolytoners who have actually bought the game (plus one or two Europeans who already downloaded the game from warez sites) have all confirmed this. Evidence enough for me...
There's still some confusion about the Limited Edition, I think that it ships with 1 scenario but haven't heard anything sensible on this subject yet...

As far as the Civ3 website goes: it's not the first time that it's been proven incorrect...

There is a scenario button, I just haven't clicked it yet 'cause I've been far too busy mucking about in what I call my normal game. I'd bet money ($0.02) that they shipped with scenarios...the game looks and feels very class, though I miss my fold out terrian identifier... :(

yes, under that button there should be 2 'scenarios': a regular earth map and a huge earth map (to make things even worse, both have random starting positions - so if you play with Egypt you could find yourself starting out in Mexico), hardly what I call scenarios... :(

Anonymous (the people doing the Civ 3 site) have been really bad at keeping it updated. Heck, here it is release day, and it STILL hasn't been changed! The counters is still up, even! *Sigh*

You're kidding, right?

The only mention of scenarios on the civ3.com site (that I can find, anyway) is in the context of mod-making. As far as I can tell, the game has a grand total of 0 scenarios.

That said, a lot of folks that post here seem pretty gol-darn good at making scenarios. Infogrames has pretty deep pockets; think of the benjamins there are to be had for making a scenario that makes it onto Civ 3.1.

Hmm, I was going by a previous Info Centre tidbit!

I didn't say this was my info,

I have heard the zero scenarios thing today too!

crapparoony!

Ach!
CIV2's scenarios were pants anyway!

We can easily just construct our own!
If the program let's ya!:crazyeyes

I would guess from from the disappering senarios and the lack of wonder movies, that they ran up against a space limitation on the cd.

No. If that were so, it would come on 2 CD's, which isn't all that uncommon these days.
They decided to cut out the wonder movies really early on because they thought it disrupted the game play too much. I have to agree with them. They were sort of neat for awhile, but they just took you out of the game too much.
