No sound at all

I was playing a modded game of Civilization 3 on my new Windows 10 laptop. I decided to change the resolution but couldn't find the conquest.ini file. I read somewhere that that file appears the first time Civilization 3 is played and I presumed that that didn't happen as I started with a mod. So I uninstalled the game and tried to reinstall my Civilization Complete. That wasn't easy as certain folders didn't appear. (I remember that happened before). A played a few turns an unmodded game and now I could find that conquests.ini file. I changed it with the 'KeepRes=1' line, installed the mod but now there is no sound at all. Not with the intro movie and not with the game. Can anybody help me to get the sound working?

Problem is solved. In a desperate action I copied the contents of the Civilization Complete folder from my desktop computer via a portable hard disk to my laptop. And now there is sound too . Thanks anyone who did some thoughts about my problem.
