No Treasure for Pirates

I knew that his majesty, King of France is not just a knight of great valor, but also segnor of great reason.

Therefore we will treat him fairly and propose the following: for Petit-Goave and Port de Paix we offer San Juan and Port of Spain.

Also if France help us to take Tortuga we will help France to take pirate port of their choice.

On top of that Spain will support French claims on Portuguese colonies in South America.

We believe this offer is fair and we look at it as a first step in our long-term joint efforts to bring peace and order into the new world.

To captain Mad Jack,

Please be advised that we, Governor of Mexico, have no authority to conduct negotiations as the one you proposed us. Therefore, your request is forwarded to
our Supreme Command in Cadiz, and upon receipt of their answer we will notify you accordingly.

Letter delivered to l'Ambassadeur de l'Espagne:
Our batteries on ze coast are non-transportable and we see no way in which to sell such a thing; also, how would you pay for all our construction improvements and ze expenses of moving our furniture? Zis proposal of abandoning ze island which God favoured us to win from the hands of the uncultured natives -for zeir own good of course- is simply pas possible.

As a measure of good faith in these negotiations nonetheless, our cavalry has been withdrawn from ze outskirts of Pensacola.

In general news regarding our administration of lands, we are pleased to announce that the colony of Lousiana has had royal letters of authorisatión for establishing ze town of New Paris upriver from Nouvelle Orleans, and our Caribbean family has been expanded by ze founding of New Lyons on ze coast of ze mainland, which will hopefully provide us with abundant silver as well as some co-operation viz ze Espagnards in ze conquest of ze Portuguese colonies in ze Amazon.

Also if France help us to take Tortuga we will help France to take pirate port of their choice.

So I guess that means "no" to the proposed house-rule of treating the pirate islands as if they already had an invulnerable "city defender"?

BTW: is it still France's turn?

Please note that I will be on vacation starting this weekend with probably no internet access. Will be back on Aug 29th.

You should already have received the email with the savegame attached…

An city defenseur? For les sauvages in ze Island of ze Turtle? Nevair! Zem dirty practitioneurs of piratique actions must be stamped out, and zeir influence on His Holiness at Rome as well, for la France! Errata: implication of distrust in the Spanish sovereign must be deleted from final document

I probably failed to see that proposal, but I wouldn't be inclined to accept it anyway.

T012, Jan. 1657:

The undead pirates (or what is left of them) flee head over heals from the Slave Coast. English redcoats taking up the pursuit.

Bombardment of Cutthroat Island continues.
Question to Le Roi of France: if you are so vigorously engaged in stamping out the dirty practitioneers of pirate actions, then why did you desert the English ships at Cutthroat Island? The combined French and English fleets did a good job of pounding the filthy zombies down there, but now the Undead are slowly gaining the upper hand again - now that finally weapons to kill them for good are on the way!
Admiral Lord Lindsay expresses his deep disappointment with the Frogs.

'ow dare you call us frogs? We are not edible, monsieur!

An' zis must be attributed to ze deplorable actions of ze former Louis, our predecesseur, who, for some reason, just before meeting ze Lord in Heaven (as all catholiques do, but you Protestantes heretiques do not) ordered our ships away. if you want, at ze very least you have to match ze offer les Zombies have just made, non?

Lanzelot, I have not received file so far. Please check again.

Damn' French value their furniture more then friendship of Spanish Crown. Caramba, that hurts.

Captain Mad Jack expresses his apologies for the behaviour of his men to the mayor of the Spanish town of Tampico. The men got a bit out of control when having a little party. They may have fired around with their cannons and accidentally hit your ancoring ships, causing a bit of damage... It was the first time since months that they got ashore after a long sea voyage, so I hope they can be pardoned. If you give them a few coins for a good stiff grog, they will sail away again without causing any damage.

Sincerely sorry,
Mad Jack Rackhem

Ze Sovereign of la France, King Louis, intimates to ze Ambassadeur de l'Espagne as a private courtesy zat zese are 17eme-century vintage furnitures, including one very commode, or as some say, an pot-de-chambre. Would ze King of Spain have his subjects endure such an spectacle? Non? We thought so, monsieur.

The Swashbuckler's Captain, Captain Blackburne bangs his mug on the Inn's Bar and wiggles his finger at the wench behind it. You see my Men? Seven Buccaneers smile real big showing their not so perfect biscuit biters. The wench says "yeah what about'em?

Captain Henry Scarlett just appears! Out of nowhere. The Buccaneers look at each other with big eyes, one of them said "arrr did you see him come in?" and all six of them said altogether, no not me.:dunno: The Captain at the Bar turns and  looks at Captain Black Henry and says, "So why do the call you Black? Henry.

Captain Henry quick steps towards the bucs and claps his hands, and a couple of them start humming in time and pushes the tables against the wall, the rest start blowing in some jugs, it sounds like a tune good enough to dance to, Arrrr! Captain Henry wiggles his finger at the only woman in the place and she smiles and runs lady like to him.

Something crashes into a stack of mugs leaning against the wall :whipped: and stops the growing crowd and it becomes silent.

She's mine! Blackburne says with steel calmness and draws his sword. Captain Scarlett spins the wench behind him and draws his. The Buccaneers divide, some on Scarlett's side and some Blackburne's.

The Inn's front door crashes open and in rushes a gaggle of ladies all dressed or rather almost dressed. The two Captains grabs a lady and prompts the boys to resume their tune.

They both watch each other closely as they dance into the evening. To be continued... :trouble:

So take your time, everybody!

Ze king of la France never urries for persons whatsoever. So, vhat offers does le roi d'Espagne 'ave for us?

As our proposals proved to be unsuccessful so far in finding some common ground with Kingdom of France, we are willing to listen to French proposals on the issue.

We would like to ask of ze King of Angle-terre vhy zere are some of zeir ill-mannered and badly-shaven seamen trying to follow our corvettes with one of zeir Ships of ze line east from Grenada? Hopefully zis is a misunderstanding caused by ze perfidious usurpers of Calais, non?

Do les Anglais have any propositions for trade or other things?

To les Espagnards, vis-a-vis the continent Americain, ve propose zat everything south of l'Equateur remain to zem in perpetuity, including all Portuguese and Dutch possessions. We would zen take over ze whole of ze northern hemisphaire, including zose pesky little Anglaise possessions.
