emporer/normal space victory 1874ad

Spoiler :
with a start like this I had to try for the oracle civil service slingshot.Icould of got it earlier but decided to tech ALPHA,silly mistake as initially we only have Ramasees to trade with.Nevertheless it all worked out, managed to get all the decent wonders except MoM,if Id bagged that Im sure the finish date for space would of been realy improved.

Had all my espionage on Ramasees who was tech leader of the AIs so managed to steal some good techs off him late game.Libbed democracy in the 1100s.Had a silly war with mehmed but AI invasions are realy useless so it wasn't a problem. Then a later war with nukes vs grenadiers.

thanks to Dalamb for posting the map:goodjob:

@soundjata:
Spoiler :
Why is that island worth settling?

Spoiler :
To share the food . Currently my northernmost city has 2 fish and one corn. I plan on sharing these tiles over 3 cities for 3x more whipping :)

Having some bad luck on immortal

Spoiler :
Oracle was annouced as biadl in 1440BC with 2 turns to go on code of laws for the CS slingshot.

With this and an even earlier ora-bummer in a shadow of Gwaja's game, I'm starting to sour on oracle plays.

Still, with plenty of holkans fending off the not-too-bad barbs, lots of decent land to expand into, corn feeding a triple gold city and the capital working 5+ flood cottages, this one is in the bag.

Spoiler :
Cuirrassiers are coming out.

Spoiler :

Eventually the island city was not settled near Mehmed

Space? Domination? Culture?

Gonna try this at immortal hopefully my first noble club win at this level. Have been able to win a few with emperor but normally playing monarch..

Space? Domination? Culture?

@soundjata
Spoiler :
don't you think culture is too tricky at this point as Washington has the Sistine Chapel?and Ramasees has built most wonders.Domination and space are possibilitys but both will involve you going to war with Ramasees which chances are will drag Mehmed into the war against you too,or vice versa if you attack Mehmed 1st.

In my opinion if you can cap these two your in great shape for space.Luckily Istambul is on the coast with a hill next to the city to land an invasion onto.Maybe with taking his satellite citys in your land and the capital(with a couple more coastal citys) will be enough to vassal him?

Looking forward to seeing where these cuirisars end up:D

This is my second BTS game, but I played a decent ammount of Vanilla games. Settings are as follows: Monarch/Normal/NHNE

I am looking to improve my game, so any thoughts are appreciated! :D

Spoiler :
I move the warrior NE, to see if there was anything worth settling east for. Ended up SIP'ing and started a 10 turn worker. Thought it would be fun to found a religion, given that we start with Mysticism and we have gold in the BFC. Immediatly switch to working the gold, once it was available and founded Buddhisme in Mutal in 3640 BC. Next research is on Agriculture, to get the corn up. Worker builds a mine on the gold in the meantime. Met the Egyptians in 3440 BC, they obviously came from the east. Next, TW>Pot>BW, to get some early cottages up and see if there's copper. In the meantime, the first settler comes in at 2400 BC. Question is: where to settle?. I also haven't converted to Buddhisme yet, thinking about converting just before founding the second city. Any ideas about that?

Spoiler :
Memphis fell this turn. Thebes is next.

Spoiler :

Mutal
Spoiler :

Tenious tech lead.
Spoiler :

@JSS: turned off Civ, but still reading CivFanatics forums? Looks like you're subjecting yourself to too much temptation!

I see what you're saying, but I'm strong and I can resist the temptation. :p

I decided to give this a try at prince with events and huts on. I know that random elements aren´t good for learning the game, but i like them.

The starting locations looks great. I will probably SiP and research agriculture first.

Let's have some fun, then overestimate my skills and move up to immortal next game. Fired up Emp/Huts/Normal.

Moved warrior onto green hill 1N of gold, saw nothing. SiP, worker first. Agriculture and the worker come out the same turn, hooray!

Well, I'm really finding this start too easy.

Spoiler :
I've decided to go the old obsolete strategy, so even though nothing in my starting traits say build wonders, both marble and stone nearby say otherwise. My stone city is blocking Ramses off, which is good because otherwise I feel pretty dumb about the placement/not just grabbing the northern city.

It's a pretty obvious path to culture, but I will need to bribe Mehmed onto Ramses as soon as he gets Alphabet. Shouldn't have settled an artist at the capital, but this map is pretty forgiving.

Cultural win at 1834! If I'm not mistaken, an Industrious/Philosophical probably would've put me in the realm of Sun Tzu Wu's Emperor record in the hall of fame. Even just the things I noticed in doing this write up would've put me a few turns closer. What a map.

Spoiler :
Let's see, built every almost every wonder.

Biggest mistake thinking the AP was safe after bulbing theology, which would have definitely shaved off some turns. I was so worked up with getting in wonders I didn't want to risk the revolution throwing me a turn off, so I hadn't declared my religion until pretty late and built the Hagia Sophia instead. No smiley to describe that move.

In terms of international politics, it was a quiet game. I buddied up to the Ottomans and bribed them into wars with Egypt whenever possible. Bismark and America tried to dogpile the Ottomans at one point, but research from the settled specialists won the day and techs were distributed to keep my two neighbors warring with each other, as it should be.

Feel free to call out my legendary cities if you'd like, Chichen Itza and Lakamha are pretty lousy cities, but Chichen was able to power out The Colossus and Ankor Wat so it got the nod. Lakamha took over Mutal's tiles once it went legendary, though looking back I could have given those tiles over as soon as I finished the Statue of Liberty. Really lazy at setting, I probably could've settled a few more cities to goose up the score, but the land off river was pretty lame. The river more than made up for that though.

Well, that all I got. My personal fastest time for culture, so that's pretty cool.

A big thank you to Dalamb for hosting the series.

Won by domination at 1574
Spoiler :
The map was quite easy. I settled in place and scouted the estern half of the map. Animas killed my starting warrior, and thats why i found Ramses very late. I managed to steal three workers from him. Later i used elepults to wipe him out. I also managed to oracle metal casting.

Later I used cuirassiers and cavalry to wipe Mehmed out. His army was mostly medieval era trash. Mehmed had attacked me before, and peace treaty had moved his army to the one tile island between our continents.

Also, I wonder the worker in the picture is doing.

@dalamb
Spoiler :
I also had to capitulate the other civilizations, but i sadly won by domination before i managed to capitulate Washington and Qin shi Huang (Washngton´s colony)

Also, thank you for hosting the game!

Just getting started right now. Emperor / No Huts.

Spoiler :
I started by moving SE, saw MORE GOLD and could not resist moving to the 3 river gold / corn site. So greedy!

1000AD:

Spoiler :
Ramesses is on this continent to the east. Mehmed met me with a fishing boat. I haven't explored a lot. Have been working the three gold mines plus the corn since the beginning of the game and beelined Literature - I'm going to build the GLib in the capital. Built a Library, then a ton of archers which are fogbusting in a good ring around the capital, then a settler to grab the grassland tile NW along the river which can work the huge swathe of floodplains. I'm going to cottage that all up and eventually it'll be my main commerce city - but it'll be a long time before it can beat three gold mines!

Ramesses dropped a missionary of his state religion Hinduism in my capital at 1000AD and angrily demanded I convert: ha, thanks dude :goodjob:

Plains hill gold mines aren't even bad on production, and with the plains cow and plains hill marble the capital is also working there's actually a ton of production. Wonderspamming feels good here.

500AD:

Spoiler :
Teching all the way up to Music was not a problem with all the gold mines working, and I popped the GA right as I finished GLib in the capital, so I hit a Golden Age. I've got a third city up on the north end of the river working stone/copper/corn, and Ramesses is busy pumping missionaries for all the religions into my cities (I think he spawned everything but Buddhism!) so I'm pretty clearly going for a culture victory. Should be a snap.

1500AD:

Spoiler :
Wow, there are no warmongers on this map at all, huh? Mehmed has been plotting against me for a long time but because he was moving troops around with a single galley I had ample time to tech to Nationalism/Gunpowder and draft six muskets, which has set his planning back a lot. I am now in full culture mode, with a trickle of Representation science getting me up to Rifling to keep the Turks at bay. Asoka has a massive tech lead so I may be racing against a space victory now...
