Noob question about loading units on boat

Well there is another country or land mass right across the one i got my civilization on.....and well i was wondering in what boats can i load my settlers to make a city in the new country or load military units to take over barbarian cities.

You can build Galleys to put any unit on them. They can only travel on Coastal tiles though. Later, you can build Galleons to move any unit across ocean tiles. If you happen to be the Dutch though, you can use your Caravel to move units across ocean tiles.

Actually, that's the Portuguese UU replacement for the Caravel that will carry all units. The Dutch UU replaces the Galleon and can enter another civ's territory without needing an OB agreement.

Actually, a Galley can move away from the coast as long as it is still in your territory.
Sometimes your culture will extend to the coast of another landmass.
Load a Scout/Warrior on your Galley, and go exploring! Come back for a Settler if it looks good.

Indeed, this is another reason it can be beneficial to found a crappy city location.
