Happened to look at this evening's viewing stats for Civ III vs. Civ IV. Always amazes me how well Civ III has held up over time. :D

 I've never been shy with my view that C3C is the best game in the series. Best gameplay, best gfx, brilliant creators, and lots of modding workarounds (some quite ingenious) without having to learn Python or any such nonsense ...

... And don't even get me started on Civ5 :shake:

At least I think I now know why neither Steph nor I could neither beg nor buy the C3 source code: this community would have blown subsequent, other Civ games out of the water :yup:

[c3c] ,

:cool:z

Right now Civ3 is above Civ4 in general discussions (although it wasn't a few minutes ago), and while trailing Civ4 in C&C, Civ3 beats Civ5 in C&C. However, it's tough to make a trend out of an instance. 43 general views and 66 at once is indeed not bad for a 10-year-old game. But longer term, what's the picture? I considered this in my thread from last August here.

The take-away I got was that, though Civ3's post growth is slowing (albeit inconsistently - it increased in 2010-2011), it's still a healthy community. We're unlikely to ever catch Civ4, but it's also a very open and uncertain question if Civ5 will ever catch Civ3 in forum activity, despite being released later when there are many more Netizens. Which does indicate that even if Civ4 may have been safe, Civ5 might have suffered from a competing, improved version of Civ3.

And going off of Oz's post, does anyone know where Steph's been recently? It looks like he's been online at times and probably browsing the forums, but only has one post in 2.5 months. Most likely just busy, and perhaps tied down by moderator duties, but it is curious.

It's good to see Civ 3 still drawing a crowd here. This is actually my first post in what must be the last 2 years. A lot of things have changed, but I'm glad to see that this place hasn't.

:) "Welcome back, my friend, to the show that never ends ..."

The Polycast people are putting together an episode focused on C3. The guest list is set but it hasn't been recorded yet. A couple of people from C&C are included. This seems like a good thread to post whatever topic(s) you may feel are important to include.

As to Steph - don't know about the current situation but in the past from time to time his job has meant extended trips to meet & work with clients far from home. He may be on another round of those business trips.

It's about time, too.
Believe it or not DanQ has been working on this for quite a while. Quite a while. It's terribly difficult to work out a compatible schedule for the right people as scattered across the globe & with as varied lifestyles as they are.

Now, as it is made public, the first invitations I´m aware of, are from the first day(s) of January 2013. And -(to citate it:)) believe it or not, this will be the first Polycast I´m interested in. :)

I wish good luck to all participants and the producers of that Polycast. :):goodjob:

The first I knew of it was in March 2012. According to DanQ there were practical discussions before that. Obviously before practical discussions there must be the early idea discussions. That qualifies as "quite a while" in my book.

So are there any specific things people feel are important to include in such a 'cast? "C3 is the greatest - C4 & C5 suck eggs" doesn't count. :deadhorse:

Give us the source code and we will finish the job.
I'm in 100% agreement ...

:deadhorse:

which wouldn't make for an interesting enough hour-long conversation to attract people to take a look at what's going on in C&C these days.
