Not-So-Useful units, buildings, GPs and wonders

OK, here's a first attempt...

Reality Television (Not-So-Great National Wonder)
Requires: Mass Media, Not-So-Great Merchant

-- In all cities with broadcast tower, reduces odds of producing a Great Artist to %5.
-- In all cities with broadcast tower, increases odds of producing a Not-So-Great Artist to 95%.
-- Unlocks the 'Simon Cowell' Great-In-His-Own-Mind Wonder.
-- +1 :) in all cities with broadcast tower on turn it is created for it's novelty, THEN...
-- Makes TV unwatchable. -10% culture in all cities with broadcast tower, and a random 1-5% :science: per turn as people give up on TV and start reading again.
-- Every turn (or length of show season) produces one Overexposed Moron unit, which causes +1 :) in every city WITHOUT libraries, observatories, or universities, but WITH broadcast towers.

Barak Obama (Great Con-Artist)

-- Only appears in civilizations where leadership approval rating is less than 25% for an agonizingly long number of turns.
-- +1 :) in all cities with broadcast tower on turn he appears.
-- As a force of Change, Hope, and Bipartisan Cooperation this unit makes it impossible to change civics or end current unpopular wars so long as FOX News Wonder exists.
-- Increases diplo relations with all other Civs by +1 for 10 turns (the number of turns decreases based on how long it takes them to figure out he isn't really much of a change).
-- Presence of this unit and a Great General in the nation's capital reduces war weariness in that city to 0.

He hasn't even been president for a whole year yet! Christ.

He hasn't even been president for a whole year yet! Christ.

Don't get offended! You'll just get more and more of them. Personally, as a foreigner, I think he will be a good president, if somebody doesn't assasinate him before he can really. Anyways, he can't be worse than Bush, can he?

General Stanley A. McChrystal (Not-so-Understood) Great General
Can only spawn on foreign overseas soil where you don't have any large stacks.
Makes military recommendations to build troops to all of your cities.
If you choose "I'm the one in charge here" more than 3 times in a row, McChrystal quits (self-deletes).
If you approve all troop build recommendations, McChrystal can join a foreign city as a Great Instructor.
If you transport troops to foreign soil and build a big stack, McChrystal can join your troops.
If you make it a goal to train the locals to defend themselves, McChrystal can found a Military Academy... in a foreign city.
+1 :) in every city you have if you have mass media, for the media frenzy.
+1  in every city you have a military presence in whenever you refuse McChrystal's requests.

I'm not convinced this isn't useful...

Anyways, he can't be worse than Bush, can he?

Obama himself will not be worse than Bush I think. But, peoples CAN be worse than Bush and still be elected. You can look in France or Italia, they are people that devote themselves to prove that Bush wasn't so bad, after all.

Animal rights (not-so-useful civic)
Available from turn 1. Can also be triggered by not-so-useful events like PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), ALF (Animal Liberation Front) and others.
Effects:
  • Your units can't kill animal units (but will of course be killed by them).
  • Obsoletes clam, cow, crab, deer, fish, fur, horse, ivory, pig, parrots, prairie dogs, sheep and whale.
  • Obsoletes ger, hippodrome and stable.
  • Reduces the effects of colosseum, hospital, laboratory, odeon, research institute and supermarket.
  • Triples the cost of constructing any building or wonder prior to combustion (because you can't use animals).
  • Halves the food and hammers from any terrain and improvement prior to combustion (same reason).
  • Obsoletes all mounted units.
  • Halves the effects of biology, chemistry and medicine,
  • Doubles the research needed for all techs.
And of course: If you have any warrior units, Nudism (not-so-useful something) will immidiately be introduced, since they will not be allowed to wear furs around their waists. (Eh ... In fact, this civic obsoletes almost all clothing up to modern times.)

PETA is against the use of wool ? If it's true, then maybe we should explain them that synthetic came from corpse of animals long dead.

PETA is opposed to any human use of animals, even uses that aren't in any way harmful to said animal.

In danger of going off topic, here's a quote: Wool: It may come from a sheep, goat, or Tibetan antelope. It may be called "wool," "mohair," "pashmina," or "cashmere." But no matter what you call it, it means bad news for the animal it came from. (http://www.peta.org/actioncenter/clothing.asp)

Kaaba: -10 :science: +5 fanatic rage. Enables unit "Meteorite Worshipper".

Predator (Cool but potentially annoying special event)

Randomly appears in a random jungle area at any period for a duration of 10 turns, then disappears.
Invisible.
Innate Woodsman II promo.
24:strength:
Moves inside the jungle, but does not come out in the open.
Kills workers, settlers and military units that enter the jungle.
If defeated in battle, explodes as a nuke.

Roman Polanski (Not-so-useful Great Artist.)

+5 culture per turn.
10% each turn that he'll be arrested and flee to a random country that doesn't have open borders with the country he fled from (no extradition treaty) and give the his new country +5 culture per turn. If at any point they resume open borders, or he is arrested in his new country, he flees to a new country neither has open borders with. This keeps happening until he runs out of countries to go to, at which point he ceases to have cultural value since he's in jail.

Actually, like Kennedy and Obi Wan, he becomes more powerful after he's killed.

Everything credited to JFK except for (Cuban Missile Crisis) was put into law after LBJ became president. That's why JFK's administration is called Camelot (a fictional kingdom) and LBJ is the Master of the Senate. :king:
