What's the difference between regular Civ IV and the Special Edition in regards to PC problems. Is one more prone to crash. I got the regular version for Christmas for my older computer and it crashes about 20 turns into the game. And yes I did install the patch. Next month I am planning on getting a new laptop, and wondering if I should shell out the money for the special edition version. Any ideas please shoot them my way.

PS are we getting an expansion pack soon that will take care of any bugs plus provide new civilizations??

I think the special edition is like a collector's edition? If so I don't think there is any difference in terms of stability. It just gave you like a bonus soundtrack CD and other stuff.

The game itself isn't different.
Instead, with the special edition, you get a CD with the soundtrack on it, a tech poster, and a cool box.

It's a shame that it wasn't released in Europe. It was the only Special Edition I would have been interested in.

I have the special edition, and beyond the first couple days there really isn't much difference, the sound track CD wasn't horribly interesting after a while (and you can listen to every song but one even if you don't get the special edition), and you only use the tech poster for a little while. But it is neat for the first little bit.
