Civ VII now available for pre-order - new details including a Civ & Leader

I’ve had a less than stellar experience when I preordered Cities Skylines II so I’m kind of hesitant to pre order Civ7.

Preordering from place where refund is possible after initial launch experiences start to arrive makes it possible to get preorder bonuses, but refund if game is horrible/buggy/etc.
With steam 14 days start when early access opens. Plenty of time to see videos of game and hear experiences.

I'm planning on buying for the PS5, but is the highest physical edition available the Deluxe?

Imo games are not quite physical anymore, even if got in disc. Update downloads etc are still required.

But I think one route for you could be getting deluxe edition on disc and then get digital deluxe to founders upgrade mentioned in Civ vii FAQ: https://civilization.2k.com/civ-vii/faq/

So I can wait for launch date to purchase the D to F upgrade on PSN for my physical edition after installing the D-edition during the early launch, if I am understanding that correctly.

Do we have an idea at which time (and timezone) the early access will begin on the 6th?
Well, no. But Firaxis is based in Maryland, so probably East Coast Time?

Firaxis say the game's regular launch is the 11th - but it's the 12th for me on Steam, and I'm 16h ahead of their offices at the moment. So assuming it'll be the same time for early access five days earlier, I'd expect no earlier than 8am US EST.

Hi all, my first post here.

Tried searching but struggling to find an answer. From what I can gather the following more minor content in the Founders Content Pack is limited to the Founders edition or the founders upgrade at this time which can't be purchased past the 28 Feb.
Founders Content Pack - 2 Personas, 4 Profile things, 1 FOW skin, 1 Palace skin

I assume I’ve read that right?

If so, as someone with a few consoles and a laptop, I’m pretty interested in the Cross Save capability where one can start a game on one system and move to another. I appreciate that the base game and any purchasable DLC needs to be purchased on any system one wants to play on, but does that apply to the sort of content in the founders pack that I believe won’t be available for sale past the 28th February? If I didn’t have this content on all systems and looked to pick up a save on another system, without it, would cross save just not work or does the game allow things like cosmetics to carry over. That’s my experience with Diablo 4 where DLC packs need to be repurchased but unlocked items/cosmetics don’t, but that’s its own game and set of criteria.

I'm thinking I’ll buy the Founders PS5 copy at launch but then possibly grab PC and/or Switch (after maybe seeing if they do any optimisations for Switch 2) at a later date, probably during a sale. Just weary as to whether the founders content if unavailable for my later copies will impact cross save experience.

Thanks :)

I would speculate from Civ 6 that at worst you need to turn off founders dlcs from dlc-menu when starting game on PS5 to continue on platforms that do not have founders cosmetics dlcs.

This is probably worth getting @FXS_Sar to weigh in on.

Not going to lie, I think it's really lame that Firaxis (let's be real, it was probably 2K) is saying that the Deluxe and Founders upgrades will only be available until February 28. It's such a cash grab—just let it remain available forever!

But I guess the Crossroads of the World and Right to Rule collections will be available separately when they launch, right?

Deluxe will still be available; only the Founders is time-limited.

Greenmangaming still has -15% for Civilization VII all editions. Not tied to any code as far as I can see.
JAN15 code worked earlier, but now civ seems to be that by default. One of the cheapest EUR priced I have seen up to this point.

I cancelled my full priced steam preorder in favor of cheaper one. My trust factor is so high that I do not need to be able to refund during early access perioid anymore.

$20 off (15.4%) Founders Edition codes for Xbox and PC via Newegg today. I already ordered via Greenmangaming but maybe some like this better!

Really curious which of these resellers/retailers delivers the keys first!

Has anyone else preordered the founders edition not on steam but a code from a shop?

Just hoping I get my code tomorrow so I can play it early.

I’ve purchased games with “advanced access” preorder benefits from legitimate authorized third party sellers like Green Man Gaming before.

I’ve always gotten the key before the advanced access period started, so if you ordered from somewhere official I wouldn’t worry. A good idea is to make sure that storefront’s page for Civ 7 actually mentions the advanced access perk though.

Has anyone found a way to upgrade a standard edition to deluxe? I was gifted a copy of standard but want to play now :)
