Welcome to the Notary of Names and Titles. I will have much more to add in the coming days, but the priority for now is to get the proper laws in place to make this office work properly.

The first post will be used to alert you to any relevant discussions taking place in the Citizens Forum. For now, there is only one:

Chain of Command - I will need a ratified Chain of Command to successfully distribute names to the DP during gameplay sessions. So let's start there, shall we?

Excellent choice for the title of this office DZ, will it bring many more blessings than the Caligula-Stalin like CNO.

Honorable Notary,
Have we decided how exactly we'll be choosing the names for out cities? I'm sure it's somewhere on the forums, but if you could post a description of how exactly the process will work, I'd be most appreciative.

Ah. Thanks, Blackhole.

Oh my, I voted in that poll too... oops.

That's alright, Ashburnham, and thanks for your interest. What will be most interesting is to see which laws will actually be considered ratified come Creation Day.

Do we ratify DaveShack's Alternative government in its entirety based merely on the fact that it received more votes than another option? Or must it submit to an official ratification process? And what of the individual acticles put up for ratification by Chieftess --- are those to now replace the pertinent sections housed in the Alternative Goverment Constitution?

While I haven't investigated this problem to the fullest, what I can tell you is that we have quite the legal dilemma facing us. And of least importance in our legal conundrums may very well be the naming of cities and units. However, I will still work to the fullest to bring clarity to this part of the process.

I hope that the two of you are ready for a whirlwind of a term in the Judiciary. I will do whatever I can to help.

DZ - my hope is that the discussion and effort many citizen put forth in the individual topics won't be discarded as some appear to desire. With the sole exception of the structure of the Executive branch, the various discussions are the same for both the Traditional and Alternative government formats. I would hate to see that work tossed out.

Hopefully our moderators have been tracking the various discussions and know the sections that are out there.

I am honored to see that all three members of our first term Judiciary have an interest in this thread. :)

Ravensfire, I share your hopes but cannot ignore the fact that many of the conflicting laws, polled separately, earned ratification from a large majority of the populace while the alternative government Constitution never enjoyed a formal ratification process. However, rather than continue this discussion here, I will post my concerns in the Judiciary thread once it opens.

DZ - I understand. I'm counting on our referee's to handle it, and not dump the mess they've created on the Judiciary.

Everyone, if you haven't already, please join the discussion regarding our Chain of Command. It will be hard for me to run this office without this vital info.

Tonight (EST) I will begin posting a tentative City Naming Order(aka CNO ;) ) based on the Alternative Government Constitution. This will be updated when and if a new Chain of Command is adopted.

DZ, I did this list for you in case you were short of time. It is good to have small simple citizens as me as friends too. Point of note, we may consider to omit the VP from the naming list, as it should be prepared prior to the Term, and based on elections alone, as there is a movement to make the VP appointment flexible to Citizen Registry and others. Thusly, VP would not be eligible for the City Naming List, which is based on the Citizen Registry.

Notable Notary,

We will be expecting to need names for some ground units, naval units, and maybe a city next play session. The mock poll for CoC includes the Vice President position. I'm not sure how unit naming should be done.

If you can provide at least the tentative names in the instruction thread it would be most appreciated. :D

Since the turnchat is less than 48 hours away and DZ has not posted in this thread for getting on for two weeks and has not posted to notify us of absence in the thread for that purpose I think that perhaps his deputy should fullfil his obligations for the purpose of the next turnset. Having to name units retrospectively would be a pain for the DP, and if a unit that should have had a name but didn't got killed then we would likely end up with a JR.

Unfortunately I think this might have to be done right now, since someone starting from scratch will have some work to do - and it is the weekend.

I realise that the judiciary are not obliged to declare an office vacant after 3 days and I am not calling for that. But it would be nice to know that they are aware of the situation at least.

since the posistion is a president appointed, does that mean that the ultimate responsability remains with the president?

Code:
The President is the primary
designated player. He/she has the following
responsibilities, and may appoint a citizen to oversee
a responsibility: Naming of Cities and Units,
Elections, and Polling Standards. These appointed
officials remain in office until removed by a
                President.

That is correct!

 Sorry

Although I have read the entire constitution, I have only carefully studied the CoL which states:-

c. Unit Names
The Commander of Armed Forces will utilize the unit naming preferences within the Citizen Registry thread to rename all military units.

My concern is not with the constitution, just that it needs to be done before Sunday night.

I have submitted TCIT to include the city naming choices of Vice-President donsig and CoDP MOTH. As mad-bax has asserted, the Commander of Armed Forces chooses which unit names he would like to use.
