Nothing will start!

I try to get my game to start and all it says is that it is preparing to start. It's been this way for a while now and I'm tired of it.

Is this the first time you want to start Civ5, or did you already play it?
If the former, then please provide your DXDiag file (DXDiag - explanation).

I've been playing the game for over a year now and I took a break for a few months and now I'm unable to start the game in any way.

Then please check the integrity of the games files (in Steam -> library -> games -> Civ5 -> rightclick -> properties -> local files -> check integrity of the game files).

An item was reacquired, but it still won't launch.

Please try it again and again, until nothing has to be reacquired.

How many times do I usually have to do this? I've done this about six times already.

Then please try this:

Try deleting the file clientregistry.blob in the folder where Steam is installed and then starting Steam up and try to play.

How do I find that?

The folder should probably be something like C:\Program Files\Steam (unless you installed Steam elsewhere).
