NoTW XIX: The Song of the Nightingale - Game Thread

I sense someone want to kill the whole family. First the captain, then the captains wife. I vote to give both the knife and the bloody amulet to our captain Kol.7.

And why wasn't you guarding lightfang? If you were, we would either find two bodies or one. Two if your help still wasn't able to help her and you both died. One if you succeeded. The werewolf was slain. But now it isnt that way. So i strongly suspect you lightfang!

My familly is being targetted here. Can you not see? We're being killed one by one! Please, you must give me the Knife, as I now fear for my life. Out of sentiment I'd like the amulet as well, it's a familly heirloom.

*He turns and walks onto the deck*

Men, Foreigners, I don't know who it is that has killed these people but we will find out. In the mean time, trust nobody.

Yes, Lightfang why on earth don't you have a weapon?

Just out of curiosity, who else has a weapon? My mother had this knife which I found quite unlikely. It was certainly nothing I ever heard about.

(OOC: I think having a weapon is a slight indicator of innocence. I think it is more likely fo innocents to start with weapons then werewolves, afterall they don't need a strength boost b/c werewolves are generally above average-ly strong. If anyone does have a weapon but doesn't want to reveal it in the thread feel free to PM me.)

(OOC 2: Am I wrong in assuming it is werewolves? We have had the bloody and gruesome death of BL, but the other deaths were done during the day iirc and reeked of sabotage. Perhaps two teams?)

The young man appears subdued today, as if some of his arrogance has been burned out of him by the morning's discovery.

Be cautious, Mother. I will be a shaman one day, and shamans do not carry weapons any more than beasts do.

(OOC: Two teams would be my guess. Also, I won't be very available for the next two days due to having guests. So I'll probably be very quiet "today".)

Lightfang dont have a weapon since he's a werewolf and kills by night!

Silence woman! You have no proof of that! I'm sure there is a very goood reason why he is unarmed and I'm sure he will be telling us this reason very shortly.

{Catharsis will be taking over Princescamp's role, as he no longer wishes to play}

Your protecting the one who killed your parents!

I suggest you find some proof before you accuse a member of my familly of such a crime. Until you do gandhi rules I do not want to see or hear you. My familly is being targetted here, and now you're trying to frame one of them. Perhaps hoping we'll throw him overboard? Afterall, a trained bodyguard might provide some trouble even against a Werewolf! Maybe you want us to do your dirty work for you? Too scared to take him on yourself?

The Silver-Rider walks about, eyeing the confusion

"Have you considered that we do not face wolves, but rather infernals? We head to their land, and it makes perfect sense..."

"Anyway, I guess the amulet to Kol.7, and the knife as well. I can only hope he can lead us out of here."

Catharsis Oceandweller is bored out of her mind. This system of accusations only rarely led to violence... what's the point of that? If it were up to her, she'd throw everyone off the ship, including herself. That's a sure-fire way to kill all the wolves.

Having spent the first day below deck, avoiding the whole process, she has finally been persuaded to join the others.

uuuhh... uuhhh... uhhhh...

kol.7!

uhhh... i accuses you

Well, LightFang always had a weapon: his fists. They could deal some damage. He's innocent, so that defies gandhi's theory.

We know Kol.7 is most likely innocent.

So... gandhi rules is the most plausible theory so far.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that LF is definately innocent, only that there is no evidence that he is guilty either. However, it is upseting that the man trusted to protect my familly has now failed to do so twice in two days. I expect there is a valid reason for this though, we cannot jump to conclusions here.

I think Kol.7 is innocent, this may be a ploy of the wolves/demons/assassins/whatever to get us to kill him. I also feel that he should get both items.

But what to do about his bodyguard. Since he wasn't able to save mable (captains wife was) i strongly suspect him for backstabbing Kol.7 next night.

Midday 2

The survivors seemed to have overcome their grief by noon of the second day, and certainly got more comfortable with the idea of sentencing a person to death. Unlike the previous day, the item and execution votes were dealt with together, and although there was hesitation based on the lack of evidence, it seemed to be somewhat less than yesterday’s boycott of the vote.

For lunch, perhaps trying to curry some favor, the current vote leader ghandi rules managed to catch some fish for everybody to eat. When asked how the Hippus woman had acquired such a strange skill, the Plainsrider shrugged it off to “natural talent’.

In contrast to this surprising attempt at productivity, and a rare bout of hysteria aboard the ship, one of the sailors in charge of weather pointed out that the sky seemed to be acquiring a reddish tinge around the ship. Nobody else admitted to noticing anything, but all swore to keep an eye on the heavens, although privately laughing the matetr off.

All around them the Song of the Nightingale continues, but even as early as this second day, it is already being totally ignored.

LightFang Riverking painfully, slowly, calls for attention, standing on a barrel, until the masses quiet down and he can begin his recollection.

I don't have a weapon because the captain was never supposed to be in great danger.

I was just his servant for many years, grateful because the captain had lifted me from poverty and into his graces. One day, he confided in me a great plan of his: he would scrape together enough money to get a new crew, and with this new crew acquire wealth, and with this make the Nightingale a great ship again.

The bodyguard job, that was all symbolic. I was supposed to be the man behind it, to help him achieve glory. That's what it meant. I was going to protect him from bad luck and circumstance.

Never was I supposed to be in this position. Never were strange beings supposed to strike this ship. Think about it: what are the odds? We were supposed to prosper together, and now he is dead. Now his wife, whom I had sworn to protect, is dead too, and I can do nothing.

Kol.7, I swear to you, I want to see you alive.

It's just that, the only weapon I have is my fists. I have strength because of my background in the slums, but that's about it. I lack true bodyguard training.

I'm sorry.

The Dwarf housewife walks in muttering

"What craziness. Do you honestly believe that any of us has a chance of protecting others against werewolves? Would you have had the bodyguard sleep in the same room as the wife? Cause a scandal on the ship? Because that is the only way a bodyguard can be sure of interfering with the attack."

"And it's ridiculous that you first accuse the bodyguard of failing to do his job, and then you insist that his 'fists are enough.' If he needs to do a better job, he needs his weapon!"

"Lanun, and Hippus, all crazy-minded, can't think properly. Honestly..."

"Ghandi_rules you seem most suspicious. And I'll agree with the Captain's gaining his family heirloom, but it makes far more sense to give a bodyguard a weapon.
