NoTW XIX: The Song of the Nightingale - Game Thread

Heh, what's this, a gang of dwarves forming against me? It's very true I unsuccessfully tried to turn the votes around, how does that speak against me? gandhi rules was innocent as I expected, and I tried to save him. You little ones are simply angry because I targetted one of yours. Well, whoever I chose would have been someone's family and race, what makes me evil just because I've targetted yours? Someone isn't making much sense here.

Sir, I am a HIPPUS, and don't you forget it. [pissed] I am not short. I am tall. I am skilled with horses, and so are the rest of us Hippuses.

Niklas, as I said last night, you voted against my daughter with no evidence, your only logic being to attack the 'quiet ones,' and that the charges against Gandhi were weak, and yet you had no charges against Tolis, and you didn't even vote against one who truly was quiet. You shall die this day!

What sort of mad accusation is that, Tasslehoff Ironsmith? Niklas accused your daughter, yes, but she survived, and Niklas now seems to carry no grudge. Yet you sent an innocent to her death last night, and now you seek to send another! Abandon this pointless vendetta, Tasslehoff, you hurt all of us by failing to do so.

This is ridiculous! You people are talking out of your collective arse! Where is your evidence against either myself or Niklas? Tasslehoff, I wonder if you think this is your chance to jump on the bandwagon and rid this ship of a threat? Why noot just kill him, eh? Disgusting. I have every belief that Niklas is innocent, he has proved this to me over several private conversations which if you still doubt, Pinman can confirm.

As for me? My father was found in the mess room was he not? Where is the first place you go in the morning? I go and get some breakfast. That is what I was doing when I discovered my father's body. Then the next day, I was shocked by my father's death and when I woke up my first thought was to check on my familly to see if they were alright. Then I found my mother dead in her room.

(OOC: Finally, it is a common game tactic to get rid of the inactive players at the beginning of the game when you don't know who else to hang. The first few hangings are always against random people so why not take out a few people who aren't contributing anything to the game? Niklas was clearly just voting to wake a few people up.)

Stop this insanity, you think my husband is guilty of evil?? Well, I for one would be able to spot it, seeing as we share the same bed and all. So I can vouch for my husband Niklas' innocence.

I am a tolerant woman, but this race card has been played a little too far methinks.

(OOC: Pinman, there's only one lynch vote against Brisingamen at the moment.)

I doubt our good Captain Kol.7 had anything to do with the happenings lately.

The young Plainsrider strides to the stump of the mast and waves for attention. He looks infinitely more himself than this morning. Something has given him renewed purpose.

My fellow passengers, and crewmen of this ill-fated ship! On my way up the stairs from lunch just now, I was pulled aside by someone who must remain nameless for his or her own protection. This person gave me news of the gravest import. For three days now, we have known that magic of the deepest evil has been at work on this ship, but we have made no progress in determining its source. But thanks to this brave person, now we know. Izipo Wavewalker, you count a book of necromancy among your possessions!

I trust the rest of you will know what to do.

Izipo? Is this true? A necromancer on board my ship? Is this true? Do you kill my crew and passengers to later resurect them as your undead servants? My parents? No. I will not let you! My parents will not serve you in their undeath. Crew! Chuck 'er overboard! May Danalin's twisted realm take 'er. I will not have such evil aboard this ship! (Izipo)

I'll be damned if I let a necromancer stay alive. Izipo you will soon join those you have so coldly controlled.

Where is your evidence against either myself or Niklas?

niklas, nothing against. but...

Catharsis Oceandweller squints and bites her lip as she struggles to articulate her occasional thoughts.

kol.7 take items, power positions. captain. "mine, mine, mine" he say. innocent team, hurting.

he say "my family being targettid", uses that to... get more items. more power. tricksy. trick the others.

then he say "who has knife? who has wolf go away items". all power go through him. danger. innocent team, hurting. if he wolf, innocent team dead.

The Oceandweller daughter smiles briefly as she dredges up a thought she enjoys. She makes this new thought known to the ship in general.

i could end you, kol.7. one skewer through the heart, you dead. i do hope youre innocent, really. id like to see you... torn apart...

Yes it's true, I have in my possession a book of necromancy, it is of no use denying it.

But have you seen dead people walking lately ? Hmm, thought so. And yet, dead people we have had aplenty.

I my heart and soul I am a healer, but in the course of my life sometimes I wasn't strong enough and I was helpless to thwart death. People that were under my care died, this was too much of a burden on me. Many years I have been searching to better my healing techniques, but still people died.
Not long ago, I found a book. Some of you can call it of the dark arts, I merely saw it as a way to finally bring back life where all else had failed.
But bringing back someone to life is hard, very hard. Especially when you wish to avoid being tainted. This is why I'm still studying it, and have yet to perform the ritual.

You call it a book of necromancy, I call it a book of life.

when you wish to avoid being tainted.

"You know that the book can taint you, yet still you hold onto it!?! It would appear that it is too late and you have already lost control."

Looks up to the red sky and thinks of all the people lost so far. "I see no other obvious possibility, therefore I will follow the evidence and accuse Izipo."

be aware that killing me will not put a stop to the deaths. It will just make them final, without hope of resurrection.

I shall withdraw my accusation. Niklas, you are stirring the pot, I don't blame you for that. The book of necromancy is troubling, but I am willing to forgive that unless it is placed in the wrong hands. That I do not yet know, so I shall support Izipo.

This is troubling news. I can't say that I'm happy to hear about your necromancy practice, dear wife, but I also can't say I would like to see you as shark bait for it. We're in very dire straits here, we're headed for a place most of us wouldn't want to be within a thousand miles from, and every single day we move closer to it. My wife may be a necromancer, and may have been playing with forces better left alone, but does that make her a killer? Did she murder the Captain, or his wife, or the Blacksmith? I'm afraid if we all jump on the chance to kill someone who isn't quite like us, it will only let the real monsters have their way longer. And that's not even considering the off chance that my wife actually can resurrect someone. I support Izipo, for better or worse.

Rheinmetall, I forgive you, and hope you will forgive me in turn.

Well, thank you Rheinmetall, and thank you too my dear, I know I have been away from you for too long.
I nearly had forgotten how good a husband you were.

Slowly, Izipo takes out from beneath her robe a foreboding heavy book. A feeling of evil emanates from it and the silence makes itself deeper still. Even the song of Nightingale seems to subdue. With a longing last look, she theatrically let it fall on the bridge.

Here, if that is the thing that is standing between you and me, I'll gladly let it go. If someone wants it, help yourself, but be careful with it.
If noone wants it, maybe it will be better if it rests on the bottom of the ocean, although I cannot shake the feeling that we might still need it.

She then tentatively takes a step over the book, toward her husband, a thin smile forming on her red lips, eyes locked in those of his love.

The Silver-Rider walks about, through the commotion. Suddenly she turns, and slowly speaks.

"People. I believe Izipo. I think that she has a true value at heart, and should not die for it. "

(OOC: I didn't realize gandhi was my "wife" until too late.)
Forgive me my son, I must not have been fully awake when casting a vote against my beloved wife, and the many names thrown around muddled me. I will trust in the good, accurate judgment that my son made. Truly a necromancer is a horror to have on this cursed ship. Izipo, go rejoin the dead you have raised.
