November Folly

The game itself isn't down... It just isn't accessible from gamespy since gamespy went down...

And there were finally a unified language of hieroglyphs allowing the Egyptian people to learn the secrets the other civilizations had uncovered!

No rushes before 3500BC
To be more specific: no declarations of war are allowed until after 3500BC, otherwise you just know some poor (perhaps inexperienced) sap is going to be gone before they have a chance to do anything. You may however make preparations for a rush in this time, as long as it doesn't necessitate a declaration of war before 3500BC, this includes killing scouts and other units.

Perhaps this rule needs modified for advance starts?

Perhaps, but I would have to think about it. The 10 turn enforced peace could be the other limit. Theoretically, you can build units prior to the game even starting and you should be able to kick out a few units in those 10 turns, if you have to. It sounds like you ended up in a bad position w/o bronze and next to an aggressive, early special unit civ. On the other hand, I really have no idea on how adv. starts typically play out, so maybe I will have to look at creating adv. start special rules.

This obviously put mikeyia at quite a disadvantage as he had no way to attack me before i got horses... It wasn't so much me beeing agressive as it was that i didn't want the same to happen as it did in the tgciv4 game...

I don't think so, because then the early rush had advantages, as well as disadvantages, with advanced start. You can dedicate more of your start to military without the other person knowing. You can build a much larger military before the other player is able to see your power rating, or know your resources, etc.

In an advanced start, you have the option to dedicate more to military. If you do not dedicate some to military, then you are taking a gamble at your own risk. Also, you usually have at least one very good city with mines and population that can kick out some units very quickly, if need be, within the first 10 turns.

Also, there is just bad luck. If Burlicconi (Chinese) had been next to Oyzar, then his protective archers would have had a much better chance. Or possibly, if Mikeyia had had bronze, a spearman or two who have turned the tide.

This doesn't make any sense to me. I only logged in once and finished one turn but civstats said I did two turns. Still waiting for oyzar to finish the turn. Any ideas?

Looks like a bug to me... I'll take my turn now

He whipped 3 archers in a single turn from one city(it was size 2!!). J/K everything is fine.

Hatty against the world! War have broken out on the entire continent. Can those damned ottomans save the wretched Babylonians before it is too late? Reduced down to one city just this turn which made the great general Heinz Guderian show his worth. Can he help against the ottoman hordes? Will experience and fighting on the home turf keep superior numbers at bay? Will the Babylonians last or are they soon done for? A meager 1000 Babylonians remain, the rest turned into egypts slaves! Only time will tell, I am just here to help it along.

The Babylonians are not such the pushovers the arrogant and pretentious Egyptians had expected. The betrayal of trust will not go unpunished. We will not go quietly into the night.

That remains to be seen imo :p

And gamespy is down again... Please look into a way to host this via direct ip eh?

Gamespy back but the game is obviously not. Since the game doesn't appear as down in civstats i assume you should at least be able to save it so you can put it up without anyone having to retake their turn.
