I played most of the submitted 'Ugly Starts' to a point where I could be sure the chances of loosing aren't higher than always. One of them even at DG. I'm convinced the Human can win against any geography as long as the AI doesn't have extra Settlers. 3 AI Civs 4 tiles away, that's a different story...

The DocT3-SG in my sig is a good example.
 
map looks slightly modded to me..
generating a map with the seed and settings for that world creates an exact match for the map.. except from that one 1 tile island that doesnt exist in the generated map... ;)
 
Nice one... I did have a start like that, once. Except it was in a DEBUG game I created to observe Sid AIs.

Just to point out, a 1-tile city like that, at 21 pop, with Harbor, Commercial Dock, Market, Bank, Stock Exchange, Offshore Platform, Factory, Manuf Plant, Coal/Solar plant, and your capital, is quite productive, really.

I actually made a map like that to play as an OCC on chieftain. It was way too easy! Huge amount of commerce speeds you ahead and allows for rushbuilding of crucial infrastructure. A single scientific leader is all it takes to build the UN (I usually get 2-3 SGL playing as a scientific civ and researching almost all techs).

Are you using the seed with 31 civs? I didn't change the distances so I'm guessing that when generated, there wasn't enough room so it created another island with a starting location? Does the map generator work like this?
 
Production is crap, i mean it look like you will have only 1 shield per turn until you built another city, but where?

This city will top soon at size 3 and you have to reach map making, that will take many turn.

And how do expect to conquiere with this low production, i mean you have no horse, no iron and it will take you 20 turn to built a single archer, :lol: :wallbash: .

Man! This start is awesome! It's too bad you have to play as Rome. My first thought when I saw Red was Byzantines, which would have made it MUCH more interesting (and fun!) Is there a way to switch Civs while still keeping the same map?
 
Seed beast should let you extract the world seed, then you can go into the editor and change the civ.
 
...that's why you need someone to poke in the editor...
