OB02 - Giving is Better than Receiving

Maybe to make the start easier the variants (no chopping, agreeing to all demands) only kick in once we've got Christianity (i.e. The First Christmas).

Ozbenno is UP :) .
GreyFox is pacing the deck ;) .
Maybe as thread starter Ozbenno should just make a decision about chopping and then get us started.

no need to go warrior first... Lets go straight for a worker and start mining...

I'd like to try monarch without chopping...

Well we are off and running! Variants are:

  • We have to be the first to found Christmas (Theology).
  • We have to give in to all AI demands.
  • We cannot ever chop.

Berlin is founded in place. As can be seen Animal Husbandry for research and warrior for first build.

Plan is to build warriors until size 2 then switch to worker, then settler, then Stonehenge.

Pop a hut :goodjob:.

Buddhism FIADL in 3680BC.

Animal Husbandry replaced by Mysticism.

First Contestant.

Popped a map which shows India.

Nutter alert. There's gonna be some requests for war here . There shall be peace in our time my ass .

Mysticism replaced by Bronze Working.

Played 30 turns (up to 2800BC). BW in 5 and settler in 10 to be able to settle any nearby copper. If there's no copper we may want to settle the horses/flood plains near India.

GreyFox, the impatient elf is up for 20!!!

http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/88650/Santa_Claus_BC-2800.Civ4SavedGame

I'd be tempted to say go for horses regardless (unless copper is nearby on a good site). We've got AH and wheel, chariots are better barb-busters than axes.

Clarifications on "no chopping" variants:
- what happen if there is a resouce in forest where improvement requires chopping?
AFAIK there cannot be resources in a forest.
Btw would lumbermills be a violation of our rules, or are they a must, because they cut down our christmas trees, so we can get them home and decorate them?

- what abt jungle? You mean we can't clear (note my choice of word: clear, not chop ;)) those nasty unhealthy jungles as well?
I would say we can clear all the jungle in the world if we want to, I have never heard of christmas trees from jungles.

Jungles are fair game for chopping, resources in forest are fair game (I think the spices to the west are in forest) and lumbermills are OK.

I think that covers all. :crazyeye:

The only reason I'd prefer copper is that we can get dragged into a war at any time, so would prefer to have some troops, chariots are fairly flexible but axes pack some punch :hammer:

First off, the >>> Elf's Night Work <<<

Basically, the elf went around meeting -- you know, like collecting a list for Santa, who had been naughty and who had been good, who deserve a stocking full of sweets who derserve naught.

First is Mansa, basically his skimirshers with that unwiedly huge shield approach our scout:

santa-BC2720-mansa.jpg

Next is everybody's favorite, the Great:

santa-BC2320-alex.jpg

Finally, is the cool, long-haired dude, who is in fact very close to us ... wonder what took so long for him to make his appearance ...

santa-BC2040-asoka.jpg

Well, Santa, basically all these people have been behaving as far as I know. But there are real naughty fellows that I met If you must give them somthing, I'll suggest that something to be a good O spanking.

santa-BC2120-barb-archer.jpg

Well, back to the matter of preparing presents ... (that's the elf's primary job, right?). We got Bronze Working, but copper is not to be found anywhere near us.

santa-BC2600-no-copper.jpg

No copper toys for the children. So, we head towards Iron Working. I would have go for Writing (pre-req for Theology), but without copper, Iron Working's priority had increased).

I have also founded a secondary site for toy production ... but somehow some mischievous little elfs had stolen my screenshot  Hmm ... so this is what you will get:

santa-BC2000-sit.jpg

Anyway, the secondary site was meant to build merry-go-around (read: horses). However, in the greatest smoke of my turnset (I made one evry turnset :p), I totally forgot we are creative and go start an obelisk in Hamburg. :crazyeye:

Berlin is now building stonehedge which may be better spent on settler ... but who cares. This is just monarch :p

Maybe switch Hamburg to a settler after it reaches size 2?
