Off topic posts shouldn't count

I think this needs to be named an International Holiday!

"Sween and Sibling Concurrence Day!"

Have a party! It comes but once a year!

:D

I also agree that OT post should count. They are as valid as all the other forums, IMHO. Why should we take away the post counts for a forum that has some very decent topics in it?

I'm in fact an admirer of sleek and fast interfaces and therefore -any- customization should be turned off. No avatars, no signatures, no nothing.

Otherwise, this might spoil the fun and probably is no big task to a reasonably scaled server.

As for OT: CivIII forums are kind of repeating (as if OT weren't :D) I now know most of the game by heart, except for some awesome [insert your favourite genius here] thread. It is more fun to be OT.

I agree. I'm sure many, like me, came to CFC for Civ information, but then migrated to OT as the Civ3 thread became less useful. I don't play the game much any more, but I'm still a contributor to the site.

'Sides, most of my post count comes from OT. :p

Agreed.:scan:

I think that posts SHOULD count, whatever the forum.

I DESPISE NES threads, and the demo-game threads, because most times you can read 15 posts with less then 20 words between all of them. It's all irrelevent though, and it seems to be a case of envy more than anything else.

People get jealous that they have a low post count, and don't like that people who are part of the community have higher counts then them. But they are part of the COMMUNITY now, which some have explained happens when you look farther down then the Civ 3 forums.

If I hadn't discovered OT there's no way I'd ever get to the 300 posts that I need to use the naked picture of my grandmother as an avatar.

THREE CHEERS FOR OT! :suicide:

Surely you mean 'The voice of OT is looking pretty unanimous!', which is nothing short of a miracle.

this has never ever happened before!!!

I would like to say, I started out here because I bought Civ 3 and I was looking for tips and strategies as well as help - which I found.

I then went down to the off topic forum and found a lot of interesting topics and posters there. I started posting there, and now I only post there. I don't play Civ anymore since I have grown tired of it.

My only posts go into the OT and Computer forums. I think AoA said it best anyhow.

There are no greater crew of arguing renegades and 'unique' people than in OT. A legend in its own lunchtime!

Even though I spend my time in other sites now,
OT is still good to surf around in and see the fun.

:D

all forums are very good but OT is the place where insane people can display freely (as long as AoA allows it ;) )

I'm strongly in favour of "site feedback" posts not counting.

"Off topic posts shouldn't count" - means - "If you stopped playing Civ, or have no opportunity to do this, than get the $%^& outta here!"

It called spam. Spam is not useful. The Demogame RPG is spam. OT is not spam. We carry on legit discussion, which are heavyivy modded.

You could try to fix it up, and maybe it will regain enough cred to count again. Ya'll are capitable ppl, and ive seen it work at other sites, so just try to get who ever the mods are to crack down.

I only frequent Off Topic, and the regions around it, and have nothing to do with Civ3; never played it, never will. I don't see why OT is any less valuable than repeated posts on the game. It is fine the way it is; not counting post count in anywhere but the Colosseum is an idea. ;)

..... and I support this idea

After 300 posts the post count should not matter.... I do think though that taking away the post counts in OT will cut down on some of the posting/spam there.
