I suddenly find myself in want of offline wiki software. Does anyone know a good one? It must be able to install and run without Internet access; preferably something similar to the MediaWiki design, and/or not requiring a bunch of external protocols like pHp or Apache or the like. Portability is nice, but not necessary.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TiddlyWiki is a tiny (a single html-file) wiki that's quite usefull for small things, so you need not run a webserver or anything like it.

Notebook is pretty small (about 2 and a half megabytes) and portable.

Thanks; I'll give 'em both a try.

Is this perhaps something like what you're looking for?

I used to run Moin Moin wiki - Desktop edition for a while. It's a full featured wiki and starts it's own server. It's as easy to start as any normal office application and offers most of the features Mediawiki does (i didn't notice any lacking features, but i'm not a wiki enthusiast). Sandbox for syntax review.

Install XAMPP on a flash drive (see http://portableapps.com ) , and you can get portable mediawiki. Mediawiki in itself is however more complicated to install than any normal portable app however so you may want to try some of the other suggestions in this thread aswell.

Thanks again. MoinMoin works quite well.
...And you're right about MediaWiki being... complicated. :p

MoinMoin  nice name
