My best friend became the vassal of my worst enemy! What do I do?

On another note, in another game I had a vassal, and I couldn`t even order him to stop a war against a CS I was allied with.

So far, I am not a fan of the vassalage system.

You can disable Vassals when starting a game (In the creationmenu), the whole Vassal system is made by some guy that isn't working on it anymore(from what I've gathered) and the parts of it that actually works are working poorly. G seems to have patched a few things up, but I still wouldn't use it.

They technically can't, but there are ways in CBP to bait a civ to DoW you.

But it's a possible bug.
A vassal should not declare war on any of the master's friends.

Vassals can't declare war. Possible that the vassal was already at war with the CS prior to vassalage. The first issue (friend becomes enemy vassal) is just diplomacy.

I had a similar issue where my vassal signed a defensive pact with one of my enemies without me noticing. I went to declare war on that civ, only to have my game crash because I was now at war with my vassal.

Shouldn't this cause either an instant DoW from the master to the CS (in a peaceful vassalage) or a forced peace treaty between vassal and CS (in capulation)?

Huh. Sounds like an oversight - in the unmodded game, no AI will ever sign a defensive pact with another (this is fixed in the CP). Therefore, the creator of that mod simply didn't consider what would happen of the vassal tried to sign a defensive pact.

I'll take a look. Vassals shouldn't make defensive pacts. Also, going to war with vassal isn't necesssarily grounds for a CTD.

Is it intendentional that a vassal AI can vote for himself as a world congress host? Shouldn't he always vote for his master?
