Just check his profile and then click "search for all posts from this user".
Then you see what Ohwell was doing.
For that reason I think this ban is serious, and IMO TF has been very merciful.
If I was a mod Ohwell had received a PCR of at least 20%.

You mean that posting spree he went on? I was shocked to walk into the Site Feedback and see the last reply on some 10 threads all belonged to Ohwell!

Anyway, I get some of those agreesive ads that just scroll down, and don't even let you switch windows.

Well, the problem here is the selectivity.
At least once every week, you can walk into the Civ2 fora or any other not so often frequented fora and see 10 threads or more answered by the same person. Just take starlifter as an example. When he came back, the last 10-20 threads in Civ2 General, Civ2 Strategy, Civ2 Tech Support and Civ2 GOTM were answered by him. But of course he wasn´t banned, even though he was reviving months old threads and often not replying in his eloquent ways, just with short posts.
And that is just the best example of such behavior, it is seen rather often.
This is not to defend Ohwell in this matter, but to once again show the inconsistency in mod behavior at CFC. Most of the whining threads or complaints and other problems results from that behavior. With better, clear cut rules and consequent actions, I´m sure that the whining might get less.
I know that ever mod behaves differently, and I also know what to expect from most mods, been here long enough for that. But it is still a minor annoyance.
On topic: The pop-ups one the main page sure got more aggressive again. The real problem I have is that they load with EVERY page on the main server, even if they are already there.
And recently I have had a few pop-ups when entering the forum from the main page, no other window was open, so it definitely was from CFC. And even some when just browsing the forum. Not to mention that the banners at the bottom break most older browsers, especially Netscape.

You missed one very important point. What Startlifter posted are usually long, well thought out posts, while those posts Ohwell posted last night are mostly one liner posts. That's why Ohwell's posts are consider spam.Originally posted by Lucky

For some reason, you are really critical of the CFC moderators. Trust me, we are trying to be as fair and as lenient as possible, even though the job is not an easy one. Ohwell's 2 day ban is very light.
Observe the split thread fuction, here used to separate two entirely different matters.

Concerning your reply, TF, well, for one, I said that Starlifter usually makes long posts, but he didn´t always do so back then. And as others have posted, he isn´t the only one to "mass reply" in a forum. I was just using him as an example.

I got banned but now I'm back, maybe I should change my avatar to a can of spam. Oh and for the record it was like 50. I was suprised how long I got away with it
After Perfection had made a three day 30 thread habit of posting last in all humor forum threads, almost all with just some applause or no content posts, I had PMed him restricting him to only posting more such there and allowing him only to post new joke/humor in the vein of the thread. He then on the new few hours posted several more no content posts and was thus banned. The Humor forum (which I call my gutter) has lower standards (at least as enforced by me) than the other forums, but it still has standards.

The fact is, if you try to mass reply to 30 threads in the same forum in 15 minutes, there is a high chance that you will get a ban. Enough said.
And there is no nice, clear cut rules for many things in life. Lots of the time it's a judgement call.
And that Judgment will vary not only from moderator to moderator, but also for the same moderator in different forums or at different times. Its a wide grey border, not a bright line.

), post porn near TF and expect your IP to be notified, flame flamers around hippo expect a ban and congratulations, flame in the Demo Game forums and expect quick death, where as had lefty found you in another forum you may have just received a stern warning <--not to say lefty is a softyHowever, the one thng you never do around lefty...is spam the babe thread.........
