Thank goodness. I thought I was becoming senile. :o

I hope serial posting in a short time frame is not the only banning criteria - it's my modus operandi.

I come to CFC, I scan the recent posts, I read ones that look interesting (or have the word "babe" in them, I admit :)) and often reply. Then I go away and do other things. Then in a day or two I'll be back and do it again. Unless there's an active thread I'm getting notifications for that I want to be more active in, that's what I do. Plus I often read threads at work, but rarely post there, so have more to say when I do post than might appear sensible.

I've often seen my name on several Civ3 "last post by" items. Is that really so bad?

No, the main problem was that a lot of these posts were very short. Posting a lot of educated responses is not against the rules in any way unless it gets too annoying!

well posting 50 one liners in one section of the forum
Is something that shows how much the poster is driven for higher postcount and/or hyperactive;)

i post quite a bit of one liners in the rpg but i dont think their spam cos normally they have summin to do with it

I can't understand why Ohwell needed to spam with a postcount like that!
I post quite some oneliners too, what's the problem with fitting in everything you want to say in one line?

Hmm, when I come to the forum in the evening, especially in OT (not to speak of Civ3 general) there are dozens of new thread replies. Now I usually go through most of them and reply if there's something to reply, which may result in 5 or even more of my replies being on top if there are not many people in the forum at that point. And I've seen that from about everybody of the regular posters.

I hope that's not considered spam as it is not meant as such. I only reply to threads if I have something to reply, can't speak for Ohwell of course.
When does it start to become spam?

And what does post count really matter, assuming you already have more than 300 ;)

I like to have the postcount because I'm obsessed with reading statistics about the posting behaviour (btw, TF, is there more you could release? ;) ). But I don't understand how the postcount can be something of prestige for people...

What's spam ?

First of all I think it should be answered by the mods/admin. Furthermore I think that my personal definition of spam is stricter than the one used by the mods. I should declare more posts spam than the mods do.

But I can't resist to give my personal opinion. (actually I have been encouraged to do this after having a discussion by PM about this subject with another poster).

In general spam posts are posts which don't contribute to the discussion and of which the only intent is to get a higher PC.

Examples of spam are the one or two-smiley posts, e.g. , one line posts with stupid comments or a simple "I agree" or "thanks", posts in happy birthday threads and most of the posts in the stupid poll threads. And I think I'm able to extend this list.

BTW : If you want to read a lot of spam posts then visit our concollegue OT forum. IMO 70 to 80% of the OT threads there consist mainly of spam.

Just my 2 cents.

Some people like it to be in the top 25 of the PC-list. :)

BTW : I have the same obsession. :)

Anyway I like to read the reactions of the mods/admin. :)

Okay, agreed on all that, except maybe for the "I agree" part. If you are in a discussion and happen to agree with at least points of the others I think it's not spam if you point that out.
The above statement is an example for that, I simply agree with it.

Damn it, I'm #26!!!
And even worse, Ohwell is #25!!!

i agree Hitro with your I agree

Sometimes in a debate with multiple sides where someone takes your point by agreeing you further help that side of the debate

If you ban someone for every little infraction you would have no posters, so I tend to let some stuff pass as far as spam goes.

...But nothing resembling trolling gets by him.

Because trolling isn't needed, it's something done by people that don't have a real argument, so to make themselves feel like somebody, they make up a fact, or try to hurt someone with something painful.

That makes you a major a-hole in my book, and like you Lefty, I welcome it on other boards we post at, but NOT at CFC.
