Does anybody have this running smoothly on a laptop yet? I'm picking up my copy tomorrow but am concerned that it wont work on my system. My computer is 2 years old with the Moblity Raedon 7500 and 32 MB. Any help is great, thanks!

Please, please answer after you buy it!
i have the same system but cannot buy it until next week.
In Germany is one player who said it did not work on his Ati mobility 7500 32 MB but after he tried omega drivers it now works...
do not give up quick:)

I'll post tomorrow as soon as I try it.....if anybody else has these same specs please post.

It should be fine, if not, sell it on ebay and drool over our screenshots.

Yea... shouldn't games perform the same no matter its a desktop or a laptop? I've got a Toshiba Satellite M30 running on Intel Centrino 1.6Ghz, Microsoft XP Home, 1GB of DDR SDram and nVidia GeForce 5200 with 64MB Video Ram.

Big question: Shouldn't it work?

Got 6800 Go on my laptop. It runs Civ4 fine, but it's still the worst $2500 I've ever spent lol.

P4 2.4 ghz, 512 RAM, Dell Inspiron with radeon 7500C with T&L but only 32 meg RAM video card. Does not work. The game will run, but the landscape (water, mountains etc) is black black black.

You already tried the omega drivers?
I would wait with the selling until the mess with the graphic cards is fixed

Civ IV works fine on my laptop, but it's only two weeks old. It's got an ATI Mobility graphics card and I'm not having any issues, other than staying up too late messing around with the game. And posting right before I go to sleep.

I'm running an HP Pavilion zv6000 series, custom built.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+.

ATI Mobility x200 w/128MB. These are brand new from what I understand.

1 GB RAM.

It came in just a little over $1,000 after the rebate.

Hello, just bought it.
I have an IBM T40 with 1.5Ghz CPU
1GB RAM
my video card is a ATI Radeon Mobility 7500

installed ok, intro plays ok, (will remind lots of things to civ1 players... even intro music is a reminder) but I very soon find out it's only Napoleon's teeth and eyes moving in front of me, and on the main window I can not see tiles. Only dark (is Tolkien's Morrdor the standard scenario setting?)

so to me, we'll have to wait for a patch or a solid procedure to be able and play on 1-yr old laptops...

(I won't go any further by now: I installed it on that laptop just for the sake of testing, I'll play on my personal desktop, but I don't want to switch things, re-install drivers, etc... on my work machine good luck to you all!).

Solution for the black terrain problem

open up Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\XML\Technologies\CIV4TechInfos.xml

and do a replace all changing <bMapVisible>0</bMapVisible> to <bMapVisible>1</bMapVisible>.

now everyone starts with the map revealed. terrain is fine, although the oceans look a little funny for me. you still need to explore to find goody huts and your opponents, but unfortunately the terrain types and resource locations are revealed. but you are at least on equal footing with the ai since they will see everything too.

I have a Dell Latitude D600. Belarc says the video is a MOBILITY RADEON 9000. I think it has 32 MB of video RAM, but Belarc didn't list it, so I am not positive about that.

It runs fairly well.

Athlon 64 3000+
Nvidia GeForce 4 440 Go (GF4MX series)
Can run and everything is fine, but performance is not there. Not even for low detail. Still playable. With right tweaking it will be better.

I'm also having problems with black terrain and invisible leaderheads, I have a Compaq 2195 w 512Kmegs of ram and a 64meg ATI videocard.
