Old World Modding capabilities ?

Maybe it's a bit early for such a question during EA, but I'm looking around now that the release of civ6 DLL is officially not currently planned.

If it's similar to Offworld Trading Company I suppose we'll have data (XML) and scripts (DLL) fully open :woohoo:, but I can't find anything about the art assets (icons, 3D models, sound, ...)

So simple question, will there be a way to add new assets (units & animations, buildings, ...) in the game at some point ?
 
I asked about the art assets modding on the Oldworld discord.

The answer i got was that so far modders have managed to add sprites and are thinking they can do more.

What @Casworon said is sort of true. I was able to replace spritemaps via a DLL. We haven't been able to get new assets added to the resources library yet.

But I'm on the tip off it.

Found the Formation.xml and global scale values, so R.E.D for OldWorld is already a possibility, great !

And yes, I see that channel is quite active.
 
@Gedemon unfortunately I got good news and bad.

The bad first: I've just had it confirmed from one of the coders that the ability to load our own assetbundles into the game is not available like it is in OffWorld.

The good news: It will be implemented before release. We just need to wait till the ability is added.

But we do still have a way to update existing spritemaps. In reality, any asset that is already loaded into the Resources library can be changed (as long as it's a texture change and not other attribute change). We just can't add new items to Resources library yet.
