Old World Quick Questions and answers (and FAQ)

Build urban buildings! If your leader is a Builder, you can also directly add urban tiles (with a Worker), but the usual way to expand urban territory is by constructing urban improvements on not-yet-urban tiles.

Thanks :)

Is there a way to NOT have our own email or any personal data in the savefiles? This is in case we share them here in the public forums.
Or can we just edit the XML to remove the email and player ID?

Is there any of that in a single player save? SP saves that I have contain no such information.

Thanks :)

Yeah just strip these two fields from the xml save file.

<Player
ID="0"
Name=""
Email="dale@mohawkgames.com" <--- THIS ONE
OnlineID="gggggggggggggggggggg" <--- THIS ONE
Nation="NATION_CARTHAGE"

That's because you play from Unity.

I was talking about saves that I got from other people, but I guess it depends on whether they filled those fields out...

I did change my handle and email to a gaming specific one ("nolegskitten") and was able to change my email in Epic as well even if I originally bought the game using my personal nominative email address. I have my "gaming" email filled in OW for cloud games etc, no leaks between accounts.

Does a fort count as "Urban" ?

Nope. They did for a week or two during EA and that was game breaking exploitable for city territory expansion. I had some fun adding 100+ tiles in one turn to my OCC capital while it lasted tho.

How could you do that in a single turn? :o

Haha by lining them up like checkers. Spring one, and they all popped in one go. :p

Oh ok, the last one is the one close to your territory then? Tedious preparation I guess :)

I was wondering if the ordering of this list was working fine:

When it is sorted by governor status, I have a clear order between has governor / does not have, but I would have thought the cities that do not have a governor would be also ordered between those that could have one and those that can't.

Hello folks,

slightly neurotic request maybe, but does anyone know of a mod that alters the minimap so civilisation colours don't show on water? It's a massive pet peeve of mine and I love my minimaps to look like the one from Civilization V. :D If there is no mod, is it possible to make this change for your own game?

Kind regards,
Ita Bear

It's doable - you can pretty much redo the whole game through mods - but not straightforward because the minimap colors are based on who owns the tiles, and water tiles are owned on equal terms with land tiles, so to speak.

Just won my first game :)

Is there any smart use of this island?

I conquered Assyria's capital and I guess they chose a new capital, which I quickly conquered too. This triggered an event saying I conquered 2 capitals. I think this can be abused if one conquers all cities and the capital keeps moving?

After the win and watching the timeline, I did a rewind turn to make a save. I also went back to Windows to check the Task Manager and see what was the bottleneck for the slow speed. And I got my first CTD. Are you guys @Dale or @Solver interested in any log or anything? I haven't restarted the game yet, in order to keep them.

output.log from the Logs folder would definitely be good! (Quitting the game is fine too, it keeps the last several log files).
