Wow, amazing. I probably played 10 hours today without even blinking. It just pulled me in and didn't let go. France really made me mad and I just couldn't stop punishing her. It was me, arab and france left,(england and zulu got wiped out fairly early) and we were all on really good terms; they were both gracious to me and I believe we all had ROP too. All of the sudden, out of the blue, france declares war on me for no reason! It was crazy.

One of the things I find so addictive about this game is the fighting. You never know who's gonna win.. it's like every battle your cheerin your guys on sayin, "cmon, cmon, cmon!" (you know the feeling..hehe :D)

I made a point this game to experiment with the radar towers, outpost, airbases etc. I found them to be quite useful. One thing that I found really useful is that you can benefit from radar towers (it sure seemed like it) if you are in the enemy territory.. as long as your within the range of it. This can really turn the tides of a battle. Airbases can also really help bring heli's and para's into the game, IMO.

All I can say is this game is top-notch. I've a feelin i'm gonna be playin it for a looong time. GG Sid :goodjob:

Just one more turn...
Just one more post between turns...
Congratulations, your name is meltone1 and you are an addict.

Good one Turner!! They don't call this place civFANATICS for nothing... ;) I've even missed work to try and finish a game I was on.

It is always that next turn...

Yes. I forgot how many times I said "I'm going out after this turn" and stayed all day at home.

Which one is more addictive? Civ or drugs? :crazyeye:

And if you listen carefully to the sound of the battle, you can really predict the outcome of the battle. For example, the moment I fire my attillery nowadays, I can pretty much know for sure if it will hit or miss a few nano second before it reaches the target.;)

Just one more turn !!!

I always tell myself "OK, I stop when I finish this war", and then the war is over, and I say "Hey, hold on, I'm just 4 turns from changing government", the new expected tech comes in, and I'm like "Wait ! I won't let my civ in bloody Anarchy during all night while I peacefully sleep in my bed !", so I play the Anarchy turns, and suddenly a dumb AI (who didn't know about the RL time nor my tireness) declares war on me ! "Damn you, damn you ! You'll see what it costs to declare war out of nowhere !", and I play many more turns just to take half his cities, and that's when I find out I'm just 2 techs away from a new era... And that never ends...

Well, that's was a fictionnal story, but it's pretty like how I play at night ! :goodjob: I'm trying to refrain from playing too much when I'm really tired now. :D

I once was on a business trip, and believe it or not, i booked the earliest flight back home... just to finish off the zulus, who had declared war on me the day before i left!!!
I just had a civ-conscience...

If I go to work tired and grumpy after 2 hours sleep the one thing that keeps me going is thinking about the game I have to finish....

I wonder if civ should civ come with a disclaimer or warning??? :)

I mean, there might be some poeple out there, whom have lost their jobs and families to this game. :(

Anyway, Civ3 is nowhere near as addicting to civ2, due to the long IBT's. I'm able to stop and think about WTH I'm doing playing a comp game, in the middle of the night. :)

"Warning: Fraxis and Atari are not reponsible for any work lost, delayed or even ignored meals, lost sleep, or lose of what is deemed a normal level of sanity of the player of this game. Not suggested for Women who are pregenate or nursing due to the above side effects for the potential illness that is commonly refered to as 'one more turn syndrom' and often comes with Civilization games. Any of the above mentioned ill effects caused by this game are the responcibility of the Player alone and as such the Player can't sue us from playing Civilization until he starves while attempting to cure the starvation in his Desert city...."

That work? ;)

I got sick a few weeks ago right when I installed civ on my dad's laptop. It sat on the couch and played civ for 10 hours in a row too. It was great! I played like, 6 hours the next day and I'm still not sick of this game! :) When I've played other games this long I don't wanna play em anymore, but I'm more hooked than ever! Someone help me! :D Wait. Help me later... Go you legionary! Kick some immortal butt! Yay! Just one more turn and then I'll be done...

that's good stuff krys.

Yea, as it turned out I skipped class yesterday too, so it really set the stage for an all-out civ day.

I was just thinking about that disclaimer thing. When counter-strike came out I remember people talkin about how they ended up quitting school, getting fired, etc. because they played too much! I've played that for a while, but I wouldn't say it's near as addictive as civ

Maybe we need to start "CA" (CIV Anonymous).

Hi everybody, my name is Tom and I'm addicted to CIV. It started out as a simple little game on my 286 computer way back in 1993. Now I'm doing CIVIII & PTW on a Pentium all the time...

@Falcon02 :goodjob: Exactly!

They should also have a hot-line, to help the most addicted folks.

Also instructions, on how best to avoid all-nighters.

And how to deal with those dreaded "withdraw symptoms."

The first week after I bought Civ a played ALL DAY LONG. I got up played a little bit, did breakfast, played civ, did lunch, play civ, did dinner, played civ until 3:00 a.m.
I kept dooing this for a whole week until I had to stop because I got a back-ache.
I was able to play all day long because it was during summer vacations :D
