honestly, I don't know how I find time to post on these forums!

Back-aches, eye strain etc - but the doctor just suggests a couple of days off work....(to play civ3 even more and make my back and eyes even worse!)

I think everyone has to lay off civ for a few days. Although, it'll be good for the economy if you all go to doctors to get your backs and eyes looked at.

and does anyboday know the "closed eyes" syndrome? you lie in bed after 8 hours playing and you still see your game, but maybe it is just my insane mind ;)

That happens to me all the time.;) Even when I sleep, I sometimes dream about Civ.

I have dreams about civ too. It's very odd. :)

I had nightmares last night about my current HOF attempt. I was so scared that I had one worker on automatic running around at the speed of light across my rails, mining random tiles after I had irrigated everything...

If I find out that little bugger exists, I'm going to catch him and, well, make him a slave or something.

I used to have nightmares all the time during last year when I didn't treat own citizens right...you know...launching nuke at my own cities to improve the land around them. It was like in the middle of a Hellraiser movie with all these mutated citizens (half human, half body part) trying to grab me.:mutant:

Here's my contribution and my confession of being an addict:

Once I had doctors orders to stay home from work for two days. I got up with the wifey at about 7, kissed her goodbye when she went to work and I played civ from 7:30 to 4 that afternoon. The next day did the same thing. I did not even stop for lunch. 8-1/2 hrs straight both days. She never knew.

Another time a few months ago, my boss had a taken 3 days off. The 3 of us addicted to civ in the room played civ from the time we got to work until the time we left, stopping only for lunch and if someone came in the room needing help. (We're the IT dept.)Roughly 9 hrs a day, 3 straight days. I finished a full game and half of another one.

How 'bout this one...

I had Laser PRK surgery on my eyes. While recovering in a seedy motel room, I played CIVIII on my work laptop, squinting and teary-eyed...

The whole game was a bit blurry, but it made time pass (painfully). :(

Yikes, I think that takes the cake mano. Enduring physical pain just to play civ. Ya, whenever i'm done playing a game, if I go out in my car or something I swear I'm moving in tiles. If I make a left turn, I have to move that little circle with a jagged line to the appropriate lane.. hmm eight turns.. i'm gonna be here a while.. :p

YOu have to learn how to dream "ctrl-A" slug

sounds very, very, very familiar!!!! LOL

And, on top of that, modding is just as "addictive" ... I started enhancing my mod with major elements from Kal-El's DyP and all of Steph's units a month ago and just can't seem to stop until I got everything right and done nicely. (Sometimes I wish I wasn't a history perfectionist.) Hehehe

Hello, My name is Bigfoot, and I am a Civ III addict...

Ever find yourself looking at the tile floor in a restaurant to figure out optimal city placements? (You know, taking into account the placement of the walls and counters, proximity to 'resources', and that odd off-color tile?)...

Yes.

Eyestrain!!!! They were irritated and stinging, and then got blurry for a day or so, so i went to the eye Dr.

He called it "filamentary keratitis", and asked if i had allergies...

Some soothing eyedrops, and i'm back to work (play)....

My record is 30 hours of consecutive gaming (Yes, no sleep in between) but that was when I was playing Pirates! (The first version).

My PCs record is 24*7 = 154 hours of consecutive gaming. My two brothers and I were on 8 hours shift gaming on the PC - My eldest brother took the night shift from 10pm to 6am, I played from 6am to 4pm. My second eldest brother played from 4pm to 10pm. We were playing Might and Magic 3 back then. That was about 10 years ago.

I have dozed on and off at 3:00 in the morning in front of my monitor and still refused to go to bed.

Just during registry at CFC, so... on/off dozing for 1.5 years?:lol:

;)

I can quit at any time.

It helps if my wife comes and stands right in front of me and threatens to throw a brick through the monitor.

But I can quit, I actually went to bed last night about 11:30, only a half hour after I promised (and took the Chinese Capital.) Only one more Chinese city on my continent to go. Helps to have Cavalry and they only have riders.

You never know who's gonna win.. it's like every battle your cheerin your guys on sayin, "cmon, cmon, cmon!" (you know the feeling..hehe)

heh, for me it's more like

"What.... the... ****?  HOW THE **** COULD A CAVALRY BEAT A TANK!??!  "

.... I mean... it'd be bullet proof. At least partially.
