Help me plz!!!

OK, this morning i bought the civilization IV, now, it installed ok, but wen i insert the disk 1, and try to open the game, the "loading..." thing pops up for ~30 min , and then it closes and says than windows encountered an error, and needs to close.

i tried reinstalling it, but it doesnt help! WAT DO I DO!!!! PLZ HELP!!! I RLY WANNA PLAY!!!

Need to deinstall what it got up to before anything else.

There are two places it puts files -

Program Files and
My Documents - My Games.

Go to windows add remove programmes, find civ IV in there, press install/deinstall button. When its done go to the directories above and make sure they have been deleted, if they are there delete them. That will clean up anything there.

If not in Add / remove programs, then go and manually delete as described above.

Then reboot and try again.

Its possible its a defective disc of course, but a quick clean up and reboot will stop any other possibilities for now. Give it a go, if fail to load again, repost here, with any other symptoms you may have spotted like a file reported as not found etc

Tried that. Still nothin. I deleted all the civIV directories existin on my computer (well the ones i could find), then reinstall the game, but its still the exact same problem.

Try installing the patch. Download it from here:

I have the exact same problem! The patch does nothing - my specs are way above recommended (P4 3ghz, 1 gig of RAM, X800 Radeon 256mb card.) I did make my own topic about it but no one has replied!

I just gopt it. If its a problem with the computer playing the cd (a scratch, or whatnot), then maybe it will help if I play it with a no-cd crack . Quickly! does anyone know where i could get one???

I also have this problem. My machine exceeds the system specs and I have been able to get it to run occasionally, but usually the computer hangs on "loading" and then generates an error. I've sent dozens of reports to Firaxis. I reinstalled the patch and it worked immediately thereafter, but when I tried to play again a few days later, I got the same problem.

CD emulator will likely make things worse... CivIV doesn't like them one little bit.

Try the INI changes in here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=135019#4

and start the game holding down the "shift" key to clear the cache.
