Onan's Speed-Optimized GMR Game

Phew! I got my 2nd policy for free happiness from monuments and temples in time! Went form -13 to -8, i managed to kill Rome's knight and killed 2 russian units. Still alive...but not for long. Rome has a f**king huge army.

Bah.

Yes, we thought this would be a good way to reduce our military spending! :goodjob:

Disaster has struck the Songhai empire. Too secure in our own achievements and greatness and thinking that our Great Library would provide us with scientific achievements greater than any other realm, our rulers spent far too much time communing in our Mosques and temples, and not enough time governing the empire.

The result is an unmitigated calamity! The Egyptians have reached the Renaissance age, and with it their scientists gaze upon the stars from their observatory on the mountain in the Capitol. They now hold a 7 technology edge over the rest of the world and it will only increase as time goes on since their rate of technological progress surpasses all other civilizations - perhaps even some of them combined! :(

But the even bigger misfortune to befall the Songhai is that a civil war has broken out between the Eastern and Western Songhai Empire. As you can all see from the demographics, the Songhai military has increased significantly in size due to this civil war, where brothers fight against brothers, fathers against sons. Any victory is a Pyrrhic one in this war as Mandaleku cavalry face off against each other in the plains of Djenne.

Rest assured that we Songhai will not stop until Gao and Timbuctu are reunited under one banner. No matter how many Mandaleku fall, trod beneath the armored horses of the desert warriors, we will finish this Jihad and make sure that no more civil wars tear apart our empire. We ask the rest of the world to leave this internal dispute alone as it is no concern to any leaders but the rebel factions involved.

Askai "Islandia" Muhammad the Great

OOC: Sorry Luciferkid - had to expand somewhere after Onan swallowed up India so quickly with EEE_Boy getting massive science out of his observatories, and it is disconcerting seeing you with my city names and my unique UU. Guess Siam does not get elephants after all.

:eek::eek::eek:

For a second I thought the Songhai is coming towards Egypt, but the real target turns out to be the Siamese Songhai.

This time Pharoah will shut up and keep his words. If Siamese does not have chivalry yet, the outcome is decided.

The walls of Tlateloco shake, shudder, and crack! Roman legions encamped beneath the walls assault the city, ballistae rain fire, and Roman knights flank the few, brave Aztec defenders who have chosen this moment to meet their god, Tezcatlipoca, in person.

Caesar salutes Askia Muhammad in eclipsing our fine warriors' might.

I wasn't watching your cash, so I don't know if that was a mass upgrade, but nicely done! These plains cities are good for production. What with the great mountain range between Egypt and Siam, I doubt anyone will be able to intervene in your civil war.

These certainly are interesting times!

Casualty reports from Russia. 2 units of Swordsman and a unit of Archers have been lost in battle. We have claimed the lives of 1 unit of Swords, 1 Pikeman and 1 Archer. It looks like this war will be a grind.

I was also planning to "unite" with our brothers . Unfortinately,I've made way too many mistakes, like going on Tradition,to get Wats for free, even knowing that I wasn't actually playing with Siam and not building enough units . I'm already losing this war,but We'll see if it's possible to resist against the oppresive Songhai leader .

I think i'm gonna cry

My beloved people are going to die :ar15:

But Monty will fight until death :deadhorse:

Because he doesn't fear death :mwaha:

Bye bye cruel world...:suicide:

The Egypt humanitarian War Chariot can win the best news reporter of the year! He witnessed the Roman Aztec confrontation, then he sneak across the real Songhai territory before the cultural border closes. He traveled the narrow corridor at the bottom of the plain, now he was trapped again in the hot war zone when he was heading home to be promoted.

Askia saw the pikes and Mandelaku prepared to descend upon Kathmandu and decided to strike the false rebel Songhai leader RKH first. Our blood may fertilize the fields of Gao, but it will be fields ruled by Askia Muhammad the Great!

OOC: I have to say I am really impressed with your propaganda machine. You at least fooled me into thinking you were actually Siam and had elephants coming. Those vague early threats about elephants and Warsaw is actually what I based my decision to attack you upon. I couldn't have you at my back with Elephants if I was engaged in a multi front war either with Egypt or the Roman/Aztec conflict (of which I'm still not sure which side to root for!)

I just received a confirmation that I was playing with Songhai when I could build the Mud Mosque in my cities . Before that,I've chosen Tradition opener,to get Legalism later and decided to go Masonry first without actually needing walls at the start of the game . Needless to say that both decisions will probably condenm my existance, which was only prolonged by RAs with you and by my propaganda machine . I'm wondering about what could have happened in this game if I had actually been playing with Siam instead of Songhai .

Tlateloco is the newest Roman province. Aztec losses have been relatively minor, as most of their forces retreat to defend their capital.

While Caesar tries to be just and fair, his general in the field, Vercingetorix, has wisely raised concerns regarding allowing the Aztec tyrant to maintain his power base in Tenochtitlan. And he has his supporters in the Senate. He has also expressed concern that the Chinese do not have the troops to defend Tlateloco, were we to turn it over to them to administer. Roman forces will garrison the town for now.

Caesar invites Lady Catherine of St. Petersburg to resettle her old city site destroyed by the Aztecs, if this is desired. Once we have the wine plantations up and running again, we can trade our new wine, and perhaps some iron to bolster your troop strength, for your sugar. We hope this arrangement will be appreciated, while you get your armies in order.

Catherine of St. Petersburg accepts your offer and will begin work on expanding into our ancient lands. In the meantime we're putting to use the iron that's already been traded to us in an effort to bolster our forces.

Examining the tech tree can spot which civ really is:rolleyes: I thought he was Siam, and the green was China.:crazyeye:

So you are not Siam after all...yeah that would be nice to have elephants isn't it?

Are you going to help him? Because i'm not sure if he can by himself. 3 fresh units will appear very soon :)

Fresh units, Hmn? No doubt reanimated through evil blood rites from the battlefield dead! :P

Exactly why the Aztec threat must be dealt with, with finality. We've experienced first hand, as has Islandia, I believe, what can happen when we take our boot from your neck!

Egyptians saw major powers are busy dealing with their own matters, so Pharoah sees the opportunity is ripe to improve our security measure by inviting Warsaw and Ragnar (not sure spelling) to join the alliance to Egyptian Empire. These two CS are too close to our capital and are vulnerable to be annexed by Songhai in the future. However, Pharoah's goodwill was not appreciated by those two states, so Pharoah decides to move his troops near their borders to convince them to sign Warsaw Treaty. The Songhais should not be alarmed as this is merely to secure our own border to protect our precious capital from future nuclear strike.
