Onan's Speed-Optimized GMR Game

The agreement between the Chinese Russians and the Songhai has meant an era of peace and prosperity for both. Askia would like to renew this and if a subsidy is needed to keep the coffers of the Chinese Russians from being sorely depleted, then that would be acceptable.

Indeed we have enjoyed the lasting peace and mutual growth between our peoples and would happily continue. Our GNP is at a healthy level again, but it would be a few turns before we had the gold to make such an investment. If you'd like to subsidize an earlier start that would be acceptable, if not we could cover the cost soon.

It's fair to have the Songhai completely subsidize the project if not over-subsidize. I mean, it's only the cost of upgrading to calvary, too cheap.

The Egyptian scientists and geologists have new discovery, but the propaganda minister is not certain if any other nations would like to receive the updates (which may spoil the fun of discovering by themselves) :p

Caesar looks around wistfully for Monty. "Ah, I miss the good old days of liberating Aztec cities."

Anyone else a bit bored with this one? Shall we just declare peace and move on?

Declare peace? You mean a draw and start a new game? Yeah, peaceful time is a bit boring, but this game should finish within a month, 2 months top in the eyes of Pharaoh.

This is the most exciting time of the game when we see whether the warmongers can catch up to someone who has been left alone the entire game and gone tech happy. Clearly if you are bored, you can change that fairly quickly by starting some excitement.

Mighty Caesar,

Let us wait until the expiration of our other goods treaty and then trade the two excess luxury resources that we possess (silver for incense) if that is acceptable.

I would ask that Askia Mohammed remember the favor we did by trading away our sole sugar resource to the Songhai. Many of our cities now covet pearls, and the incense will provide a replacement for them (and perhaps you have more to connect?). When the sugar for, was it furs? Agreement expires, then we should be in a position to trade lux for lux again, or continue this staggered arrangement, based on good faith.

Caesar looks forward to Askia's personal attention to this matter.

Yes that was indeed the return of the original favor of trading the sole source of furs for incense. We are willing to continue the staggered arrangement as well and continue the sugar for silver trade. Please send the trade request again for the pearls.

Pharaoh wants to announce that Egyptian cannons are relocating on the way, Knights should be ready to upgrade to Calvary in 2 turns, it seems we need to slow down our progress and build more cannons for defense.

I was wondering why you didn't attack Genoa like you'd wanted to. We saw all your troops massed there, and our scout could not get through for all the units crowding around. And now they seem to have withdrawn. Paranoid old Pharaoh. :p

Because I have a request from Genoa to connect spice:) so change of plan. Also we can upgrade them on the way down, just unlock those military techs.

Really? Forts? Great Caesar, is there anything that we can do to make you change your mind? We tried to show muscle but it seems to not work.

What does a fort just started by a bored, unguarded worker in my land mean to you, really?

"Gather the army, we're about to be invaded!" :sarcasm:

:crazyeye:

What you could do to make me change my mind (about bolstering defences along our border) is not talk about upgrading your already strongest military to a bunch of seriously more effective units which are entirely beyond our ability to build.

In that case, that worker has more important work to do than building forts (such as TP Aztec puppets), as the forts will NOT come into effect even Egypt builds more of these weapons (we have no intention in this game to war).

We've all heard you say this before only to find out that you are falling behind (in technology, military, concubines who knows?) and turn into a ruthless warmonger. We Songhai are not fooled!

 Clearly this game we do not need to use the hustling strategy (which can work once only), if we need to warmongering, we will not promise again and again not to war when we are in military lead. But if the Songhai has intention to war, we will prepare for defence.
