One Last Roll of the Dice

No no. Passing it along! If anyone can and wants to take it tonight then I'm happy for that to happen.

turn 0

Settle in place and we go bananas! The hut had 112 gold and I started worker + mining as discussed.

turn 8

We meet Mansa from the south.

turn 10

Our exploring warrior doesn't like the idea of being dinner and turns to other direction.

02.jpg

turn 11

Mining is learned and we start BW. Mansa is about to steal a hut under our noses

turn 12

In a distant land, people are confused (Confucianism founded).

turn 14

We meet a panther and promptly kill it without any scratches. Well, being on a jungle and behind river helped a bit...

turn 17

Pop 75 gold from a hut.

Turn 23

Worker is finally finished and he starts to farm the corn. I selected a warrior as a placeholder, but we probably want to train it anyway.

And finally view of our lands:

Lot's of jungle so we need IW sooner rather than later. I'm fine with Myst after BW and then chopping Stonehenge. And there's stone for Cam_H :p We should map that area next for the possible first city site.

Heh, your motivation for civ4 is exactly the same as I have, just waiting for Civ5 and Fallout New Vegas . That being said, I'd be interested to join as long as the save works without BUG / Bull.

ditto. be advised, I'm an idiot.

Welcomed onboard Admiral Kutzov! A little idiocy goes along way....

I think that will do for the roster ATM. 5 is a nice number.

Nice set Meiz. Lets hope there's some food near that stone (flood plains?).

Only just got up so will look at the save shortly.

Looked at the save.

Looks like we can get some pretty nice cities in with some tight placement in the land we can already see. Still bit early to dot map ATM.

Warriors for the next builds whilst growing our pop seems pretty logical to me.
Next worker action should either mine the gems or farm the bananas. Never to sure about optimal things like this. I guess the banana's after the corn as food is usually the most important factor at the early stages. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Next tech if we want SH should be Myst as there is obviously a SPI civ out there who started with Myst (early fall of Conf).

Carry on spiraling the warrior round. Hopefull that river wil run near the stone.

Remember this set can be about 20 turns long as well.

Oh yer I notice the power ratio with Mali. Guess they popped a warrior or something froma hut.

I would road the corn, then mine the gems and build a road there as well (+1 happy). Farmed banana is only +1 food, so not worth the farm just yet, especially as we lose worker movement due to forests.

Mystiscm next and then probably AH for the cows? 1N of the lake could possibly have horses as well. With chariots (or bronze), we can skip archery.

I would maybe mine the gems then build the roads as we can work the improved tile sooner. Waiting for the +1 :) is not so bad with the bonus from CHA.

Agree about skipping archery if we get bronze or horses.

Also agree AH after Myst for the cows and possible horses.

agree

Mansu appeared in the south IIRC. when we start building settlers, think about curbing his expansion by blocking him?

My personal style is a fairly agressive REX then rebuild of the economy so placing some blocking cities is no problems for me. However I'm going to wait to see what the rest of the nearby land looks like before I commit to any exiting dot mapping

Since there's been no "got it" yet here's a roster reminder.

Great, I'd say we have our two block cities decided :) But let's hear your suggestions as well.

After the gem mine, should we chop / whip two settlers as soon as possible and build SH only after that?

Here is my settling order
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0005.jpg

That appears to block the civs from the south from expanding into our immediate area.

I'd suggst that the worker chops the hills S of the capital as the next action. Maybe put one chop into a settler for Bronze/rice and then 2 pop whip the overflow into SH?

Just seen Meiz dot map. I think I prefer his dot 2 to my B and C as we don't waste the FP my C is on.

I think bronze should go before dot 1 though.

I have to clarify that the numbers are not meant to indicate settling order. Bronze should be our priority :]

On a second though, we should move my dot #1 one east, on the plains forest. Less overlap and better blocking.
