I appreciate your telling us in advance. Still, as the (original) host I have to say it's really not cool. 15 mins times 3 people is, well, a lot. I'm not even sure if ZLO reads this forum, though he should. Please make an effort to be on time, or ASAP, and give my apologies to the civ_girl...
Yes thank you, she was NOT happy. "Why do we have to rush home for a 'stupid game'". I tried to make the effort for ZLO since it was his last session. Once I realized we had the event Sunday night, 6-9pm, I let you guys know. 15x3????? Would you rather I didnt hurry and wrote I was going to cancel, would have been EASY to do. or didn't show at all?
As for untrustworthiness, trust is something you have to build. Now, the real artists will build your trust, and then backstab you. It's all part of the game, and I would call that a GOOD game of civ. But you - you were aggressive from our first encounter, so I'd say there was no backstabbing, just the regular kind of warmongering.
Yes I concur, no stabbing. I only took the worker alone and took down the weakened unit, since killing it was also easy. I don't know about real artists. In the games I have been in, everyone is on guard, there is NO TRUST.
I'm still puzzled as to why you attacked my worker at the start.
Punish mistakes. Every game I have seen, a worker unescorted is a freebie and an automatic take. In the early game you can't afford NOT to steal the worker. There are whole strategies on patrolling borders to pick such units off. Too bad he died, he would have been a hard worker
Sure, you gained a worker, which is worth a little bit. But you lost any trust I could afford you right then and there, and forever.
In CIV 4 MP, trust is never earned, ever. (remember the "artists") If you have a peace treaty that CAN NOT be broken, then you can relax, a little.
And I made sure everybody knew. Was it worth it?
Sure, you get to know the people you are playing. The only mistake you made was not uniting with ZLO and taking me out. Oh, and also letting my Great Merchant get 900 bucks. I would have killed that guy in an instant. But that's just me. It was rare to use a trade mission in a MP game.
Also, ZLO would tell me you were beggin him to attack me. To me, that behind the game play stuff IS MUCH worse then me picking off your mistake. Say to the group ATTACK CIV you girl ZLO". lol That's what I am used to.
Then you told us you had intended to give it back, just AFTER the lions ate it (lol! the irony!). Sheesh, giving it back would add exactly zero trustworthiness to your character.
It would have avoided THIS. based on your hissy fit, I started to think, oh he is not used to this kind of game. Perhaps I should say here ya go, take him back, but don't do it again. (slap on wrist) That thought occurred to me but then in like 3 minutes it died.
INTENT to give it back after it got eaten added even less.
huh? get the facts right man. See above.
Anyways, the end result is good for you, so well played all the same.
Not really, I lost heart when I could have ran you through. So after I decided not to take York, I pulled up. Nice move pillaging it. I might have pressed on and taken it for the Stone. Anyway, it's the rubber daggar trick.
Move up a stack. Sometimes you will get the guy to do what you did, take down his own empire tryign to defend it. I was able to pick off units in the field and not suffer many losses at all, and I can see 2 cities that are smaller than previous intel stated, so that's good. Your cap looks lower, and I think York WAS a 7 or something.
Not sure what I'd do different if I'd played this a second time around.
If you had to go back, I would think your start must have been slow. I was expecting TONS of units to come pouring down at me. The land from my first recon showed great resources and top-notch land. I was VERY scared. I founded 3 cities VERY quickly and then tried to grow. I had advantage in that you are not aggressive and I had the weak AI next to me in Nap. I had a nice buffer to protect from big yellow
I'd be happy to hear your criticism (Hell, I deserve it after this rant.)
The only thing that I will critize is the comment about wasting peoples time. I tried hard to make it home versus cancelling. I try to be a good citizen and respect other people all the time. I am sorry if you guys are mad about the delay.
Minor point is the whole worker thing. I was thinking of giving it back, and then that decision made itself. I should have walked it back, so I did the same thing you did, unescorted settles outside culture. BAD STEVE
Anyway, I hope this made sense. I would think you should play out your civ until the game ends. Hopefully ZLO will make it in, although he doubts it, and I beleive him.
