I don't want the wretched mongolians stomping across, or even near, our lands! Their stink will scare the children and livestock.

Better they step on our lands in peace then when they come with real big axes or other pointy things.

It makes all of our lives much easier to know what we are up against.

/sometimes you have to check the roll play at the door in order to do whats best in the "real" game. This is one of those times. Heck if Mongolia has a lot of land..we could become friends and use them to help us agaisnt Germany...they have done absolutely nothing to warrant a war. Germany however is much more powerful and a threat based on their research into IW this quickly especially since tehy had copper right next to Berlin. It wasnt like they resarch IW because they lacked copper.

We've never lost a demogame... it would be nice to lose one atleast once. However, I highly doubt that we will lose this one, regardless of what we do. Excepting complete insanity of course.

I agree with Strider. I don't think we've even ever come close to losing a demogame. We tweak every little edge we can get against the AI till the Civ game is over long before the demogame is. Then we scratch our heads and wonder why people lose interest. Does anyone out there really think that opening borders with the Mongols is necessary for us to win the [civ4] game? If we have a spanking good chance of winning the game even if we keep this border closed then let's do it and have some fun along the way!

I agree completely with GeorgeOP. I want them open too. Mainly to make my job this term easier and for any future SoW that might have to deal with Mongolia.

If the demo game is too easy to win then lets up the difficulty and set rules like no open borders, no declaring war unless attacked, no tech trade and then see what happens. If you want "fun" then lets set it up to be "fun". If you want to handicap us..do it from the begining, dont use it as a reason why we shouldnt do something now.

I've wanted to up the difficulty level in almost every game we have ever played! No one else has enough guts to do it though.

Everyone always chooses the difficulty that *they* play on. They don't understand that the group, as a whole, is much more capable than just one person. Even more so when you consider the demogame environment. We have 3-4 days to decide exactly what were going to do every 10 turns. Prepared to the what? 5 minutes (at most) you have in a normal game?

this difficulty level was chosen because this was the first game with civ4 therefore we would need to see what capabilities as a group we would have, in future games the difficulty level will go up.
