I just downloaded some things that are contained in BTS Configuration Files. Does anyone know how to open them?

What files exactly are you trying to access? Because I have no clue what you're trying to do.How do access the normal xml and graphics files from them?
Whenever I open one with notepad I get something like this.
ú\ëYÖT.s. .{¯h}½ï‡ï¸~œP˜ˆ˜£>LLLÉü´XN»ýÄÄDÏ^u<qO Ï7ç¢
How do access the normal xml and graphics files from them?
Im trying to add the units/buildings to a mod so I need the DDS and NIF graphics most of all. As for XML I guess ArtDefines, but thats of less priorty and I could make them myself If I had too.
I downloaded GIMP but when I tried opening the BTS config it said it was an unknown file type and wouldn't open it.
Same with NifSkope but it wont even show a BTS config on its selection of usable files.
Perhaps you didnt understand what I wrote. It seems that you are a little mixed up. Before I think you were trying to open graphics files with notepad, now it seems that you are trying to open a text file with a graphics program.
Gimp is for opening dds files, nifskope is for opening nifs. I only mentioned those because you said you needed something for dds and nifs. For xml files you just need notepad, notepad++, or anyother text editor will do.
By BtS config, I assume you mean the CivIVConfig.ini file (icon looks like a sheet of paper with a gear on it). The config file as well as the xml files are text so it stands to reason that you should open those with a text editor, like notepad.
Well dang! I only get the stupid BTS.Do you think there is some other program that I dont have that automactically makes the change when you select download?
Also don't feel bad if you don't know things like this, if you're new to using computers it's perfectly normal to not know about compressing and extracting files that you download. And now you know, so in the future you know what to expect when you download things. Also not all things you download from the internet will be in a standard data compression format (.zip, .rar, .7z), alot of files are compressed into an executable that self extracts when you run the extension. An example would be the patches for Civ4 (and virtually every computer game for that matter). So make sure the file you download isn't an .exe before you try to extract it.What files exactly are you trying to access? Because I have no clue what you're trying to do.
Give a filename or something, so we actually know what you're trying to do.
