My order at Amazon.com is still saying it won't ship till Oct. 31st. I don't want to wait a week plus for this.

Saving the $5 buks isn't even an issue anymore. I just want to get the game quickly. :D

What do you guys think would be the best way to get the game? Anyone feel Amazon will just ship on the 24th even though they say the 31st? (Thats assuming the game isn't delayed of course).

Thanks in advance.

wait till your gamestore has the game (some gamestores have different date)
and buy it there. The game should be in by the 24-28 it will be better that way. you wount have problems with Amazon.

Even though different retailers may predict wildy different dates, it doesn't mean that different retailers will get the game at different times. One date will be right, others will turn out to be wrong. The retailers, either online or otherwise, will generally get the game on the same day (although there could be a day difference due to shipping).

I think price is still the most important factor to consider.

Thanks for the suggestions. Price isn't really an issue... i got the cash saved already. Been a long time Civ player (Commodore 64 player). :D

If I buy the game at the store... i'd love to get the "pre-order" version though. Do you think that would be an option? I want the spiraled book more than anything else.

I am thinking of holding onto my Amazon order... but if I see it at the store... i'll buy it at the store and cancel amazon assuming they didn't ship it yet.

If Amazon actually ships on the 24th... i can wait a day or two for shipping. I just don't want to wait till November 5th (which is their current estimated arrival date *yuck*)

I think the fastest to get the game without paying for special shipping is to preorder it at a Brick and Mortar retailer and then pick it up. Though, if you want the preorder edition from anywhere, you better move it, because they're running out.

I have placed my order at EB Games and will be picking it up at the store. I have been burned too many times from the "next day delivery" scheme. On the way home from work on the 25th I plan on stopping by EB and picking up this most anticipated game. The real question is how much sleep will I get that night?? I do have to work the next day and that might not work out so well for me.

I have placed an order from EBgames.com and so far they have been very reliable as they have sent emails confirming my orders. I know the price difference between Amazon and the others but i would place reliable shipping and handling in the first priority. Why? Coz i'm thousand of miles away.... at Australia and it have been a drag waiting. Anyhow i love the pre-order version and the cool bonuses that comes with it. And that was the MAIN reason i bought it online. Does anyone know what does the spiral book contains? I am hesitating on getting the Official Strategy Guide for Civ 4. Who and how many official strategy guide are there? Isn't there one from PRIMA?

Have some disipline and keep your Amazon order. It may ship a few days early. I have my order there as well. I think they are just playing it safe. Who knows, other stores may not have it until the 27th-28th.

I just checked amazon, still says released on the 24th to me. Are you from outside the US? Maybe they are just giving a later date to the new orders because demand is expeted to be higher then supply. Im in the US and my account still has it ship the 24th and arrive expected on the 25th, but I did order it 3 weeks ago.

I would like to make you aware ofthe fact that if you change your order, that'll likely push the ship date from amazon back. Apparently, it's logged as first come, first serve, and your reservation is pulled out and re-entered, regardless of when the initial order was placed.

When will your items arrive?

"Not Yet Shipped:
1 item - delivery estimate: October 25, 2005"

That's what my order says.

I changed my shipping from 3-5 day standard to 2 day. Otherwise i would get it on a saturday but it's shipping to my office address so i wouldn't get it till monday, also no one is here on saturday and i can't risk having it in holding somewhere. I would probably break into the warehouse to get it!

Blah. I ordered on Oct. 5th. Mine still says estimated ship date is 10/31 and expected delivery is around 11/5.

Same here. Oh well, a few extra days won't hurt and will give me time to finish some other games. :)

Never was the best option to begin with :p

I preordered through EBGames online and selected in store pickup... that way when they get their delivery I go and get my copy, no waiting for fedex, ups etc... They say the game will be "in-store" on the 26th... I called gamespot and they said the same thing "in-store" on the 26th...

My amazon order says its shipping on the 24th and i should get it on the 26th:confused: I ordered it only a couple days ago.
