Ordering from Amazon.com - No longer the best option?

Amazon uk has change mine to 2nd - 8th Nov. I emailed them and they gave me free 1st classpostage and a £3 certificate!

I think Ill have a wonder to the shops on the Saturday morning of release (whichever Saturday it is!) and buy it anyway.

Checked my order with Amazon, Will ship on the 24th, and they estimate the 26 for arrival, which for me means the 27, way out here in the boonies. No local stores to go and pick it up from. Will leave a note on the door for the delivery man to drop the package, and use the signature from the note, so I don't have to wait another day.

Ok i think i figured out why i had such a delayed ship date.

I had super saver shipping for my order. I just changed it to next day... and not it jumped to being shipped out on the 24-25th instead of the 31st. I should get it either the 25th or 26th.

Order total went up from $45 to $62, but Civilization is worth the extra money.

Amazon tells me November 10th for mine. I'll have to use that time to build up points with the wife.

I placed my Amazon order on September 28. The estimated ship date is October 29 and estimated delivery date is November 8. It must be coming from Siberia.

Amazon seems to be getting a lot more lax on their free shipping estimated dates. The last time I ordered free shipping from them it was a Saturday night. I ordered 8 books. The estimated ship date was in 6 days with delivery date being 10 days later. The package ended up shipping 1 day later (Sunday of all days) and arriving 3 days later, on Tuesday. Don't believe their estimated dates for free shipping. They stretch them way out to cover their butts. Also, gamestop charges $5 more than amazon does and then says you get free overnight shipping. Nice sales pitch, but there's nothing free about it.
